Jason Teaz's selections - Cambridge Thursday

Form analyst Jason Teaz has a detailed look at tonight's Cambridge meeting.

Race 1

12 Rosie
7 High In The Sky
13 Manchester's Eclipse
8 Tramps Like Us

ROSIE is a class above these. She does have to behave as bad starting habits crept into her game at the back end of her last campaign. Last start was in the Waikato Breeders Stakes in February but has had two quiet workouts to fit her for this.
HIGH IN THE SKY was a big disappointment first up at Auckland March 26. Trial form had suggested a big performance. This is a massive drop in class for her.
MANCHESTER'S ECLIPSE tried really hard when second to I See Fire here March 18. Only negative is the 2700m as she does struggle over the longer trip. A good first four chance.
TRAMPS LIKE US should relish this quality too. Has been on the improve and only beaten six lengths at Auckland was handy form for this. The blowout hope.
HIGHVIEW ROCKNROLL is the best of the maidens but has been plagued with tye up issues since two thirds pre christmas. No workouts in the interim either. Watching.
BUN IN THE OVEN is also a maiden to follow when she gets a maiden only. Good enough to qualify at two and has been patiently handled. Beat learners two weeks ago in a workout here.

Race 2

3 Montana Storm
6 Dynamite Dez
5 Harvey Specter
9 Louie The Punter

MONTANA STORM has only been beaten narrowly in all three starts. From barrier three the lead should be there for him and his main rivals have drawn outside him.
DYNAMITE DEZ is more consistent now. Does have a habit of leaving his best at the workouts. He won March 27 by ten lengths but was flattered by a breaking runner cleaning up the field. Still rates highly on his two runs back this time.
HARVEY SPECTER is first up for the Blanchards tonight. Has been disappointing to date but has trialled up well at Pukekohe recently. A win wouldn't surprise.
LOUIE THE PUNTER won at the Pukekohe trials last Wednesday in moderate time beating mostly average maidens however looks to have strengthened up a little since racing as a two year old. Draw is tricky.
LILLIBURLERO has had three good draws to open her career. She will be looking to trail the right horse again tonight and get money again.

Race 3

7 King City
8 Faith In Manchester
4 Emma Joy
3 Ahwel

KING CITY has looked the best of the two year olds so far, especially in the win on March 5 which was in a 2:02 mile rate. Has the manners.
FAITH IN MANCHESTER got the better of King City March 26, was only by a neck but did trot well. Made a mistake at the trials March 19 so far from full proof. Each way.
EMMA JOY is light on experience but in both of her trials and her only race start in the sires stakes heat, did everything right. In the latter she ran second to Quik Barbie. Fitness is on the improve and can surprise.
AHWEL won a workout beating some rogue older horses at Pukekohe last week. Having experience on tihs track helps him and has a big private reputation.

Race 4

3 Little Suzie
8 Lieutenant Arden
6 Loutenant
5 Hooray Henry

LITTLE SUZIE has had nine goes as a maiden. Her last three starts have been the best of her career. Should lead early and look to trial the right horse
LIEUTENANT ARDEN looked nice at the trials and went well enough on debut.Galloped first time out at Auckland so forgive that. A bit of a nightmare draw but can still win.
LOUTENANT is only a two year old with some high profile connections. Showed enough speed at the trials but has made the odd mistake. Drawn out a little here but the motor is bigger then most as wasn't much inferior to Classy Operator earlier in the season at the trials.
HOORAY HENRY started his career well with the two seconds from the two runs. Unsighted anywhere since February 11, so may need the run.
THE FISHERMAN has consistently run good times at the workouts. Won his qualifier in 2:47 and coming from Todd Mitchell's and owned by John Peary they'll be keen to win on debut.
Consider JOSHUA RICHARD for trifecta's on the stable change to the Blanchard's.

Race 5

7 The Honey Queen
1 Santa Maria
4 Mia Ragazza
6 Allamericanlover

THE HONEY QUEEN is the biggest certainty of the night. There are so many reasons given her runner up in the Northern Oaks, her 1:54 mile win and her 2:40 smashing of her rivals March 26. Wins.
SANTA MARIA comes up with the plum draw of barrier one. Sixth in the Oaks and should sit in the trail and run second here.
MIA RAGAZZA won her maiden easily on March 18. A sharp step up here tonight but can place.
ALLAMERICANLOVER did enough to win March 18. Won nicely at the Pukekohe trials March 31 beating Jack Tar, Alta Wiseguy and Enjoy Me. Clearly has ability.

Race 6

5 Mailman
7 Pull The Other Leg
9 Tartan Robyn
1 Jack Tar

MAILMAN has never been out of the first three at Cambridge. Last two runs have been disappointing, in one of those showed blazing gate speed off the outside of the arm. If driven like the best in the race can win.
PULL THE OTHER LEG has been beaten narrowly lately. Has had a big season but this field is slightly weaker than he's gone against lately. A winning chance.
TARTAN ROBYN comes to Cambridge for the first time tonight. The big key is the left handed racing. Follows out a fast beginner from one on the second row and a softer run will suit.
JACK TAR is first up for new connections tonight. Hasn't raced since February but ran second at the trials last Wednesday in a strong heat. Will be ready.
THEE OLD BOMB hasn't flattered since two big runs here in January. This is a step up in grade but if he can regain his form he's a place hope.

Race 7

10 Rydgemont Son
11 She Reigns
8 Presidential Jewel
6 Take The Monarch

RYDGEMONT SON is a surprising entrant here. Has been purchased by Americans and he is biding his time before his delayed flight. 40m over 2700m isn't a tough task. He has been beating and been competitive against open class trotters and there are none of those here. Anything less than a win is a failure here.
SHE REIGNS has had to overcome ludicrous handicaps at Auckland lately. If she hadn't galloped February 26 she would have won the breeders stakes. One of the main chances tonight on her favourite track.
PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL is getting back to form. When right she's up to winning this. Would love to see her driven positively and get around horses up front not on her level.
TAKE THE MONARCH is sparingly raced. Nothing since October. Hasn't been here since his first start two years ago. Loves the 2700m trip but the second up record is better than the first up record.
FIRA and THE LAST GAMBLE are normally always first four specials in these races here but tonight a few way better have turned up. They can still sneak something.

Race 8

3 Montana Jet
7 Jaccka Lucas
9 Bodrum Boy
6 Nudist Beach

MONTANA JET gets the best draw of his career tonight. This is a weaker race then than the last time he was here. Should be too good.
JACCKA LUCAS is consistent. His trial form has just been fair in March. Not a great draw but this is his level.
BODRUM BOY is consistently unlucky. Barrier one in this race is a shocker. Just gets in bad spots in his races. Better than most.
NUDISH BEACH has high gate speed on occasions but failed to show it last time when drawing well. Best chance is going forward.
IDEAL PRINCE won his maiden here breaking 2:00. Too far back at Auckland March 26. Consider for trifecta's.

Race 9

1 Express Play
6 Itsthefinalcountdown
5 Pocket Book
2 Hawthornden Hunk

EXPRESS PLAY has been in a few stables but is now trained locally by Arna Donnelly. The draws have been good to her having drawn one in her last three starts at Cambridge. Gets her chance.
ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN has been placed in all four starts for Jo Stevens. Put in the run of his life March 26 when second at Auckland. Hard to beat.
POCKET BOOK did mid race work March 18 and stopped as if shot, a real sit sprinter who at least won't have to sprint past many tonight. Can win with luck.
HAWTHORNDEN HUNK wasn't blessed with many faculties at birth. Disgraced himself at Manawatu when using the runs there for fitness. Won't get a weaker field and look for him to be driven positively tonight.
SING TO ME is competitive at this level. Won her maiden easily here and this is the most winnable race she has had since graduating.

Best Bet: Race 5 (7) The Honey Queen
Each Way Value: Race 4 (8) Lieutenant Arden
