Industry reminder : Withholding Times
Harness Racing New Zealand is urging all licence-holders to contact their vet regarding the latest withholding times for prohibited substances.
The NZ Equine Veterinary Association has recently released an updated list of the recommended withholding times to their vets. This means that the onus is on trainers and owners to get advice from their vet before any treatment which includes the administration of prohibited substances.
It is the equine vets, rather than governing bodies like Harness Racing New Zealand, that are responsible for setting the withholding times.
