Firsties heading to Methven this Sunday

Harness racing's brand new campaign to encourage race-goers to get on-track is heading to the regions for the first time.

After its premieres at Alexandra Park (last December) and Addington (January 2026), Firsties will now make its debut at Sunday's meeting at Methven.

The concept for Firsties at Methven is simple – bring a friend along and experience the trots together.

Sunday's event will have its own distinct feel with a specially designated area up next to the Parade Ring. It will be a BYO event from 1-4pm with HRNZ providing non-alcoholic drinks as well as BBQ food throughout the afternoon.

A friendly crew will be on hand to ensure Firsties are well cared for and there will be insider tours to meet drivers, trainers and horses as well as giveaways and other entertainment.

Firsties events will be rolled across the country during the year so keep an eye for more details on https://thetrots.nz/

Registrations are still open for Sunday's event.
