Entries for 2026 National Weanling Sale now open

Entries for NZB Standardbred’s 2026 National Weanling Sale are now open, with the popular session a happy hunting ground for those searching for their next racetrack star or pinhook success story.

The Sale, at Karaka on Thursday June 25, offers breeders an attractive platform to sell their young stock to a strong international and domestic audience, with the added bonus of Harness Million eligibility.

The weanling session in 2025 saw a vibrant day of trade with the median and average increasing 54% and 25% respectively. Almost $1 million was returned to breeders and a solid clearance rate of 85% achieved.

From a small offering, graduates of the National Weanling Sale have claimed six Group 1s and 34 individual stakes races in just five seasons. Headlined by Group One-winning graduates such as Debbie Lincoln (NZ) (Lather Up), Ya Rite Darl (NZ) (What The Hill), Fugitive (NZ) (Downbytheseaside), Aardiebytheseaside (NZ) (Downbytheseaside) and Christopher Dance (NZ) (Sweet Lou).

Following another solid National Yearling Sale in February, NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray is looking forward to the boutique juvenile session.

“This is a Sale that has become renowned for producing some very good racehorses.”

“It is a timely opportunity for breeders who have reviewed their portfolio, to sell their stock to a wide audience that have the added bonus of Harness Million eligibility.”

Entries for the National Weanling Sale are open from today and will close Thursday 16 April.
