Dunstan Battle of the Breeds returns to Cambridge Raceway
Dunstan Horsefeeds Battle of the Breeds is back at Cambridge Raceway on Sunday February 26, bigger and better than ever before.
Cambridge Raceway have partnered with Love Racing to bring a whole lot of standardbred vs. thoroughbred fun to the Waikato-BOP Harness Racing club’s meeting. The Dunstan Horsefeeds Battle of the Breeds, a three-phase equestrian event held in the infield to showcase the equine heroes of both codes in life after racing, will kick off prior to race one with a host of familiar riders and horses entered.
The ultimate prize will be awarded to the best performed team (standardbred or thoroughbred) with the most points awarded across the three-phases along with prizes for the Stonewall Stud & Stables Best Performed Standardbred and the Love Racing Best Performed Thoroughbred.
Following the Dunstan Horsefeeds Battle of the Breeds, there will be a cross-code dual sulky challenge. Thoroughbred participants and harness racing legends will pair up behind a field of horses carrying the names of famous racehorses and the race will be called by commentator Aaron White.
There will also be an exhibition monte trot race sponsored by Rogerson Racing, featuring a two jockeys and two drivers battling it out on standardbreds under saddle.
At the end of the day points from each event will be collated to determine if thoroughbreds or standardbreds come out on top for 2023.
The Dunstan Horsefeeds Battle of the Breeds kicks off at 1pm on Sunday February 26 at Cambridge Raceway, spectators are welcome and entry is free.
