Dunns win for fun at Addington and Alexandra Park

Could a Friday night at the races go any better for Team Dunn?

At Alexandra Park last night Jacob Dunn claimed his first Group 1 with Daisy Bay in the $100,000 Gallagher Insurance Delightful Lady Classic while at Addington dad John reined home six winners on the nine-race card.

All seven winners were trained by the Diamond Racing combo of Robert and Jenna Dunn, with two quinellas thrown in for good measure.

Jacob Dunn described his Group 1 success as a "surreal feeling" and that he was "lost for words" while John had said before the Addington races that he had "a great bunch of drives" and he duly delivered.

The first three wins came with One Over Da Line (R2), Texas Banner, a three-year-old on debut in Race 3, and Rock Lobster who made it three wins in a row in Race 6.

Then two stable quinellas followed in Races 7 and 8.

In Race 7, Bruntwood Brigade scooted down the passing lane to beat the more favoured Sacetas before Team Dunn finished 1-2 in Race 8 as well with hot favourite and four-year-old sensation Got The Chocolates clearing out to an impressive win over It's Tough.

In the Road Metals Handicap, Got The Chocolates was a long way off the pace-setting It's Tough after starting off 25 metres in his first standing start but made his move at the 900 and was just too classy, winning by two lengths.

Dunn's huge night finished with Arma Hunter, who he rated before the meeting  as a "horse going places".

This is the fourth time Dunn has had at least six wins at one meeting. He got six at Nelson in 2023 and Blenheim in 2018 and seven at Addington in May 2024.

Dunn now has 36 wins in 2026 to be just three behind eight-time champion Blair Orange.

In the trainers premiership Robert and Jenna Dunn are out front on 38, nine clear of closest challenger Michael House on 29.

As always John Dunn was quick to deflect any personal kudos saying the success was the result of "a massive team effort" by everyone at Diamond Racing.
