Dash Dosh looking to go one better at Albion Park
By Adam Hamilton
Tom Bagrie is confident Dash Dosh can add to her already rewarding Queensland raid with another bold showing at Albion Park on Friday night.
Bagrie and driver John Dunn were thrilled with the four-year-old mare’s slightly luckless second to dominant winner Jilliby Dreamlover in last Saturday night’s $150,000 Group 1 Great Square.
They clash again in something close to a repeat of the Great Square, albeit for much less prize money in the Pryde’s Easifeed 3&4YO Trotting Feature on Friday night (11.11pm).
“She ran so well last week,” Bagrie said. “The great thing is she’s come through it as well as could be.
“I had a family day at Seaworld, so John and Jenna were in charge of the mare and the reports were very good.
“It’s good we’ve got this race and another one next week to make the trip even more worthwhile.”
Dash Dosh ($3FF) has plenty of early speed, but the issue is blazing beginner Jilliby Dreamlover ($2.60FF) has drawn inside her this time.
That’s in contrast to last week when Dash Dosh crossed those inside her, but Jilliby Dreamlover then crossed her.
It’s a hot race with the likes of Crackerjack (gate seven), Mecarno (six), I Am Hellbound (five) and Sassy Galleon (one) also backing up from the Great Square.
Of them, Crackerjack and I Am Hellbound were the eye-catchers.
Crackerjack’s effort to come wide and storm home from last to run third in a leader dominated Great Square was enormous.
I Am Hellbound did the work outside the leader last week and fought on bravely for fourth.
Last year’s Australian 3YO Trotter of the Year, Mecarno, simply couldn’t get into the race from the rear last week and should improve plenty from the front row.
Sassy Galleon’s effort to storm home out wide late for seventh was huge after an early mistake in the Great Square.
Although Saturday night’s Albion Park card is the big one this week with the second round of the Inter Dominion heats, Friday night’s meeting also boasts some ripper races.
