Club News - Wairio
The Wairio Trotting Club will hold the first meeting of their season at Central Southland Raceway in Winton tomorrow (Thursday- 15 October).
A 1.52pm start means the last of ten races will take place at 6.31pm, allowing even those working on the day to catch the last few races on the programme.
The club have taken the opportunity to name several of the races on the programme after committee members, both past and present, to acknowledge their contribution to the racing community. Current President Darryl Hewitson says, “the club has taken the opportunity to honour people that have had a large input into the club over the years.”
The feature event is the Reg Drake Ladyship Mile Final Mobile Pace, timed for 6.02pm.
Admission to the course is free.
The Wairio club has four dates this season, all at Central Southland Raceway in Winton, with meetings to follow on Saturday 19 December, Wednesday 31 March and Saturday 17 April.
The club is keen to hear from any groups wishing to book tent sites at their Christmas meeting on 19 December and also anyone keen to book hospitality areas or sponsor a race at any of their 2020/2021 meetings.
