After spending weeks being re-educated as part of the HERO programme, Bordeaux has got a new home. (HERO stands for Harness Education and Re-homing Opportunities).
The 10-year-old trotter won 11 races before being retired in March last year.
Now he has a new life at HRNZ’s Liz Bishop’s North Canterbury property. She was looking for a new horse as one of her old standardbreds is on the verge of retirement.
It's a world away from the big city racetracks like Alexandra Park or Addington but "Herb" and his mates are right at home in the heart of the South Island.
From being taken from Addington in a horse ambulance to his fresh start on a lifestyle block just out of Christchurch it's been quite the ride for former pacer Press Play.
