Bordeaux's Life After Racing - Part 3
In this edition of Bordeaux’s Life After Racing series, the 10-year-old trotter gets the once over from bodyworker Lillian Bonner.
Bordeaux was retired from racing in 2020 and recently entered Harness Racing New Zealand’s HERO programme (Harness Education and Rehoming Opportunities). The plan is to prepare him for his life after racing, whether it’s as a show horse or a happy hacker.
The first episode was all about Bordeaux’s breeder and owner Philip Iggo and his association with the horse, while in episode 2 HERO educator Chanelle Dickie talked about what she’s done with Bordeaux since he joined her at her Selwyn Equestrian Centre and his first few rides under saddle.
Now Bonner, a veterinarian who embraces both conventional and unconventional techniques, has assessed Bordeaux to see how he’s pulled up after 41 starts and 11 wins as racehorse between 2015 and 2020.
