Better manners the key for Williamson trotters at Winton

By Jonny Turner

Brad Williamson is hoping for a drastic turnaround from two of his best drives at Winton on Sunday.

Both He Ain't Fakin and Harriet's Moment barely made an impact on Diamonds Day at Ascot Park last weekend, though for contrasting reasons.

Harriet's Moment was a late scratching after she backed into the outside fence as the tapes were released in her assignment.

He Ain't Fakin got away safely in the feature trot on Southland's big day but soon rolled into a gallop, taking no part after.

Williamson is hopeful both trotters trained by his father Phil can quickly put those efforts behind them, with the move to race at Winton this week a key aspect for both.

"I think the bigger track will be a big help for He Aint Fakin,” Williamson said,

"He has certainly got the motor there but he can be pretty quirky."

"He was running in on the first bend at Ascot Park and galloped, it was a steering issue."

"But he was great in his win before that at Winton and if he went like that again he would be hard to beat."

Harriet's Moment was second behind He Aint Fakin in her last visit to Winton which looks outstanding form.

She was also second in her last start behind the mobile, also at Winton behind race rival Jordan Anne.

"She was just testing the durability of the outside fence as the tapes were released last week."

"The mobile should be a big help for her."

"She's got a good draw and she has a bit of gate speed too."

"Jordan Anne has plenty of gate speed and is drawn inside us, hopefully we can slot in somewhere and get a nice run."

"She's a good each way chance."

Williamson has picked up several catch drives at Sunday's meeting with several of his peers not in action.

Among them is the Brett Gray trained Our Twinkle who backs up after a big Diamond Day placing.

"He has been going great races, Brett's whole team has been airborne lately."

"He would have to be a great chance, it is a bit of a step down from the grade he was in on Diamonds Day."

Williamson also teams up with Santiago, Paradise Valley and Mea on Sunday.

Mea looks the strongest hope of the trio in her first start for the Kirstin Green stable.

Williamson starts one horse from his own stable in newcomer Fir.
