Aussie and NZ unite for Team Teal

After two weeks the annual Team Teal campaign has raised nearly $50,000 across New Zealand and Australia.
Since it started on February 1, there have been 152 wins by female drivers (wearing their teal pants), raising a total of $49,976 for ovarian cancer research and support programmes.
On this side of the Tasman there have been 29 wins (raising $8780). That ranks New Zealand's campaign third between the two leading states, New South Wales (34 wins and $19,304) and Victoria (33 wins and $11,042).
Money is raised every time a female driver wins a race in this country, thanks to contributions from HRNZ ($100 per win) and clubs.
Team Teal started in Australia before branching out to New Zealand in 2018. It's been held here annually ever since.
Two Team Teal ambassadors Crystal Hackett (5) and Kirstin Green (4) have the most wins in NZ so far with Kimberly Butt and Sarah O'Reilly next on three.
Five Team Teal ambassadors also earn more funds for the cause every time they win, courtesy of their individual sponsors. All five ambassadors - Hackett, Green, Sam Ottley, Brooke Wilkins and Olivia Thornley - have had wins during the 2026 campaign.
The campaign, which runs through to the middle of March, continues at Cambridge and Addington today (Thursday) before Auckland and Wyndham on Friday and Ashburton on Sunday.
A big Team Teal fund-raiser is also set down for Addington on Friday, March 13. The night will feature the final of the Frocks at the Trots fashion competition with the $60 tickets also including a drink on arrival and a buffet dinner.
