$80,000 purchase tops sales at Karaka

The best was saved for last at today's NZB Standardbred National Weanling Sale at Karaka.
One of only two yearlings at the sale, Lot 108, a Captaintreacherous - Spandau Ballet colt, was purchased by Mark Jones for $80,000.
It concluded a sale that struggled at times.

A total of 106 weanlings were put up for sale with the top price going to Lot 31, a Captaintreacherous - Juice Brogden colt, sold by Graham and Judy Bowen under their Brogden Lodge banner.
It was sold for $60,000 to Cran Dalgety and Kentuckiana Lodge.
After breeding standardbreds for nearly 20 years this is the last sale for the Bowens - they are retiring and have sold their horse float for a campervan as they look forward to travelling the country.
