Upcoming Feature Racing at Addington

The mares kick off feature racing at Addington in 2019 with the Garrads Premier Mares Championship to be held on the 1st of February.

It was moved last year and moving with it was the PGG Wrightson NZ Breeders Stakes. They were moved to try and encourage more national support for the races and to create a better spectacle for the mares.

Last year the Garrards Premier Mares Championship attracted a very classy field of 14 runners including 5 runners from the North Island and one from the deep south. On the 15th of February the PGG Wrightson New Zealand Breeders Stakes will run alongside several other feature races in what is the first 5 Star Meeting at Addington for 2019.

These include the Blue Star Taxis Summer FFA, PGG Wrightson NZ Yearling Sales Series for 3yo Fillies, PGG Wrightson Sires Stakes Harness ‘7000’ and the Metalcraft Roofing espan Summer Cup.

There’s a new race for 3yo Trotting Fillies coming up this season that should transform into a very important lead up race to the Storer Motors New Zealand Trotting Oaks.

The Haras des Trotteurs Sires Stakes 3yo Trotting Fillies Classique will be run on the 1st of March, with a stake of $20,000 followed three weeks later by the $50,000 Storer Motors NZ Trotting Oaks on the 22nd of March and the $100,000 Inkwise New Zealand Trotting Derby follows two weeks later, on the 5th of April.
