3 Rain Mist And Muscle: Knocking on the door of a maiden success and won’t find many better opportunities than what is presented here.
2 Play Dough: Lovely effort to go incredibly close at Methven last week. Repeat effort has him right in the mix, but you won’t get the divvy.
6 Dreamsinthe Mist: More talent than most but a work in progress at the moment. Orange booking is critical to the chances of success.
9 Rastusburn: Blew it early fresh up but the run after that point was really strong. Looks a big chance today with the right manners.
5 Barkley: Gets onto the speed and is usually there or thereabouts and in today’s even field that might just be enough to get the chocolates.
12 Arma Twospoons: Wasn’t bad fresh up and had shown a bit in grass track workouts and trials prior to that. Looks a live prospect here today.
11 Little Rain: Hasn’t had the greatest of luck since an encouraging run a few starts back. Falls into a pretty weak race so could be a major player here.
3 Koromiko Eyre: Hasn’t probably stepped up like most expected since changing stables. Orange in the bike and a good draw could change all that.
17 Uber Express: Breeding on side, and public runs have been excellent looks primed for a big debut in a big maiden field. Should go close.
14 Striking Gladiator: Impressive workout win at Methven recently and stable is firing up nicely at the moment. Expecting good things on debut.
12 All Night Long: First starter from the Barron stable with Orange in the bike. No real exciting trial form, but respect the combination any time they line one up.
9 Archaic Lustre: Has the motor as evidenced in good runs on the Coast. Not a lot of luck there either. Has to be an each way hope here today.
8 Syzbka Lane: Good run last week to finish third an overall general form is good. Gets another tick with NZ’s best jumping into the sulky. Should go close.
6 Man I’m Good: Loves a grass track tussle and drops back in grade for this. Not a deep field either so has to be given a strong chance.
12 Playboy Prince: Right kind of race for a horse like him, especially if he can lob into a handy spot. Has to be considered an each way hope.
9 Madame Frost: Last run was pretty good after two luckless goes prior to that. Should give a good account today, even from the wide draw.
6 Rusty I Am: Left a little flat-footed when the really sprinted at Rangiora but the form overall is excellent. Should get right into the middle of the action.
1 Moniburns: Genuine performer who while often not a winner does run a number of placings. Manners are excellent which is a big bonus in this field.
5 Smudgee: Interesting runner, has the ability to win a race like this but not putting in like potential suggests. Ottley jumps in the bike. Can get a bit of it.
10 Rogie Falls: More ability than most in this field, but often own worst enemy. Half hopples come off which might be a final throw at the stumps. Can win.
9 Buckskin: Probably would have run without a rough going stuff short of the post last week. Tricky draw, but potent with a cold shot at them.
13 Gilligan’s Island: He’s fallen into races like this which he should have won before but let us down. Class act of the field, but there’s reservations.
10 Krystal Delight: Deserves a winning turn but not sure how the draw will work out. Chance if the gaps come at the right time.
11 Oliver North: Good enough to win a maiden without too much problem. Issues last time out. Knows this place and can get a slice of it.
7 Ultimate Rocker: Trainer in form and driver in form combine for this one after some good runs back from a spell. Ready to pounce and should go close.
1 Star Ruler: In good nick and gets a good draw here so should be on the speed and out of trouble. No surprise to see a big run here with a positive drive.
10 Miss Paddy Wagon: Draw should work out nicely and with a quiet run on the fence and one cold shot at them could get a slice of the action.
6 Ideologist: A little hit and miss at times but has gone some of his best on the grass tracks. Morrison takes the reins so should get every chance.
2 Da Moons Mission: Raw talent in abundance but got it all wrong last time out. Has a motor and with manner should be the one they all have to beat here.
1 Call This Fun: Fourth behind a couple of open classers last week at Rangiora. Not bad for third career start. Big chance here if able to unleash on them late.
5 Hawaiian Hula: Has the ability but just not getting it together on race day, Could turn it all around here though and be right in the thick of the action here.
10 Amulet: Manners the issue, but shifts to the unruly which will hopefully help. Certainly good enough to be right in the thick of it all.
3 Rocknrolll Max: Beat a field on par with this one last time through a beautiful trip on the markers. Progressive type who could get the job done again.
8 Homebush Lad: Some big runs in Country Cup type races recently and with the right kind of run could reel most of these in late if close enough.
9 Wolfenstein: Handling every challenge thrown in his direction and doing it well too. Has to be given an each way hope in this field.
4 Shadow Minister: Going well and the fourth last time out was very strong. Should get on or near the speed and be a player again here today.
6 Navara: Stepped up at Orari and delivered an impressive victory. He’s heading for better things and can make it three in a row with manners again.
7 Rebel Kibbybones: Genuine performer who’s never too far away from the action. Gets in here well off the front and could give them something to catch.
11 Riteur: Goes well on the course and overall form is reasonably solid. Should have something to say late if close enough to the action.
13 Monty Python: Grass should be good for him now might look to inject a bit of staying prowess into the race at some point and will out-tough most of them.
9 The Maroon Marauder: Has the ability but not always the most genuine horse. Small field helps his chances and should be a leading contender.
3 Yoha: Brave effort last time out but only a filly taking on some seasoned types here. Good draw though and dangerous if allowed her own terms.
13 Tracksarefortrains: Coming out of races featuring Baltimore Jack and co so should find this a bit easier. Can be the swooper on them all late.
2 Hands Up Jack: Consistent enough and maps to get quite a nice wee trip here if things pan out the way they look like they will. Can be a player.
3 Gotta Future: Tricky draw put an end to the chances last time. Prior form excellent and with a jump and run approach can win this at a nice price.
15 Standout: Goes OK and big roomy grass track should really suit the chances. Can wind into it late and give them all something to think about.
8 Dynamite: Overall form is pretty solid and with the right sort of run here from the wide draw could be a major player here today.
6 Essence Of Easton: Back down into a rating band where he can be more than competitive. Just needs the right kind of run to bring him right into it.
BEST: 7 Ultimate Rocker (Race 7)
NEXT: 17 Uber Express (Race 3)
VALUE: 3 Gotta Future (Race 12)
