5 The Rev: Not quite sure how to place him to be fair. When at his best, he’s devastating and would win this fun – but manners are often a letdown. Too good to leave out though.
8 Belmont Greatest: Small field is a big assist here off the 55m handicap. As is having Blair Orange in the bike. Won’t die wondering and can fly the tapes and eat up the handicap.
2 Leesa Castleton: Never too far away from the action and generally more than competitive in a line up like this. Needs to be given at least a good place chance.
7 Mekong Princess: Goes well here and carries the House colours so demands automatic respect. Perhaps the stable second stringer, but not by much.
9 Jive: More bad luck that there has been good since coming North. A little more going the right way tonight should see a win go up on the board.
6 Ohoka Bandit: Has been OK since arriving in the North Island and was good when last produced on this course. Should get right into the fight.
5 Hey Good Lookin: Doesn’t mind doing a bit of work and meets a pretty even looking field here. Should get handy to the speed and keep them honest.
8 Royal: Has been knocking on the door for quite some time and might need some luck from the inside of the second row, but certainly capable.
7 Stamp Duty: First starter from the House barn with Blair Orange in the bike. Great trial and workout form down in Canterbury and looks very hard to hold out.
8 Dennis Denuto: Has shown a bit of potential in workouts down in Canterbury ahead of tonight’s debut. Should track through nicely from the second line.
1 Moana: Better than the form has shown so far since arriving up here. Gets a good draw tonight to try and make the most of so needs to be included.
9 Jetson Hunter: Always there or thereabouts and even from the second line draw here should be seen as a decent each way prospect.
5 Pilch: Won a workout at Ashburton in fine style recently and has always looked a handy type. Should be able to kick things off in the right fashion here.
1 My Mate Ben: Orange chooses this one over the three other stable mates and the draw may have the most to do with that. Can certainly win it from the ace.
10 Milner: More than capable pacer who doesn’t get much luck in the barrier draw departments but is capable of winning a race like this if things fall into place.
8 Opawa Mach: A bit of a grinder but a new comer to the House barn with some handy enough form on the board. Sweet trip in store so needs to be included.
1 Golden Lace: Has done a very nice job in a short career and from the ace tonight should be in all the right spots to add another win to the tally here.
6 Shesheartandsole: Has done a good job down in Canterbury but might find this a little tougher. Respect for the travelling stable though.
3 Play Ball: Consistent wee performer who is never too far away from the action and with Blair Orange in the bike will be given every opportunity.
9 Lavazza: Consistent and strong at the moment, doesn’t mind doing a bit of work and three placings in last three starts would suggest a good shot here.
7 Absolut Russian: Dour pacer who is likely to try and put them to the sword here. Orange’s choice is influential, even from the wide draw.
4 Artfilly Crafted: Has shown a strong liking for the Manawatu and the form lines are good at the moment. Gets a handy draw and should be in play.
6 Ripsnorter: Prefers the longer distance races but might try and make this a staying contest today which makes him a leading contender for sure.
10 Zip Code: Really improved in the last couple of performances and with a nice run through from the second line could be one to sneak up on them.
8 Divinia Bellezza: Smart mare who was good enough to get a slice of the Harness Jewels action last season. That should make here, with three runs under the belt the one to beat here.
1 Final Delight: Inside draw should work out perfectly for this one and if the right kind of run unfolds then a winning turn would be no surprise.
5 Tia Dalma: Has always looked a smart customer and the benefit of time might have worked right in favour. Don’t be surprised to see a big run fresh up here.
11 Matai Minky: Consistent and hitting the line strongly in all the recent races. Has to get around a few smart ones here but certainly capable of doing it.
6 Thunderfromthethrone: Offering up some great each way value for a horse who has won his last two in emphatic fashion. Can swoop on them once again here and make it three.
10 Nui Ba Den: Two beat mode wins in amateur races down in Canterbury. Will roll into it at some point and look to keep them all honest with a bit of a shot.
2 Jenora: Has been knocking on the door and possess good early speed which should put this one right in the mix. Can certainly make a serious play for the major prize.
9 Brantley: Nice type who will be better for the first run back from a spell and the money has come in since markets opened. Can certainly get a big slice of the action.
BEST: 1 Golden Lace (Race 5)
NEXT: 7 Stamp Duty (Race 3)
VALUE: 6 Thunderfromthethrone (Race 8)
