Race 1

6 El Capitan: Doesn’t win them out of turn, but is well suited to this grade and from tonight’s handy draw should offer up some nice each way value.

2 Ladeenwaiting: Took a while to build to the maiden success but grabbed it when the opportunity arose. Can handle the rise in grade here and be a strong player.

10 Highview Justice: Form line looks strong for a race like this and the second line draw might work out perfectly. Has to be considered a strong chance.

1 Express Play: Consistent performer who comes up with a good draw and shouldn’t be too far away from the action. Nice trip and he’s a chance of getting them late.

Selections: 6-2-10-1

Race 2

2 Flying Finn: Barry Purdon trained debutant with some trial form on the board. We know what that usually means. Incredible strike-rate first up with his horses.

4 Sampan: Two strong runs to open the campaign, both of which netted seconds. Should be near peak fitness and ready to take the next step tonight.

1 Akarana Prince: Fifth on debut in a pretty hot field. Should find this a bit easier and comes up with a good draw so has to be counted as a good chance.

6 In My Shadow: Nice type back from a spell. Showed some encouraging signs last time and has some decent enough workout form on the board.

Selections: 2-4-1-6

Race 3

5 Liberal Arden: Found things a little too hot at Auckland last time out. This is easier and more the right kind of challenge. Has to be a bit winning chance.

10 Romanite: Amateur drivers old pro this guy and gusty win last time out. Won’t mind if he has to ruffle a few feathers to the get the success on the board here today.

9 Stars Delight: Has been competitive in much stronger races than this and gets a gun amateur in the bike for this assignment, can win.

8 J Bee: Form on the board in some strong races recently, but working off a wide draw tonight. Will require some luck, but certainly good enough.

Selections: 5-10-9-8

Race 4

1 Sea Change: Interesting runner, there was enough encouraging signs in the fresh up fifth at Auckland to take on this challenge, especially from the good draw.

2 Shandelier: Has the form on the board and won a workout last weekend, so ready to rock and roll. Good draw and one of many leading chances.

3 Heather Rae: Debutant with some good public form heading into this assignment. Should make the presence strongly felt.

9 Wildestdreams: Been good in all four efforts to date and tonight’s draw might just work out perfectly from the inside of the second row.

Selections: 1-2-3-9

Race 5

2 Aoraki: More game than most in this line up, just needs to do things right in the fresh state. Should be right in the middle of it if on top of his game.

7 Locksmith: Lovely run for new trainer fresh up last time out. Has a big motor, but also a bag of tricks. Won’t be far away with manners.

1 Edesia: Has the talent, just not sure if the inside draw is going to work out the best. Dangerous if in the right mood.

3 Secretofthesea Smile: Manners, and plenty of them a good factor here. Will trot away and not be far away from them throughout and should be a leading contender for top four.

Selections: 2-7-1-3

Race 6

7 About Turn: Looking to consolidate a spot in the Harness Jewels here tonight. Meets a field not stronger than recent assignments and should be winning.

9 The Batmobile: Tossed out for a spell after winning nicely at the end of the last campaign. Workout and trial form has been solid enough to suggest a big run today.

4 Triolet: In good form, just not getting the rub of the green. If that comes tonight expect a much stronger performance.

8 Black Art: New barn, but wide draw. Has the ability to test there, but needs things to fall into place to make it happen.

Selections: 7-9-4-8

Race 7

11 Need Luck: In good nick and winner of three of last five starts. Nothing here which should cause too many problems and another win looks likely.

3 Takenoprisoners: In good nick and last two efforts have both been strong. Will trot out and look to land in the right spot and from there can be dangerous.

7 Fira: Making Cambridge a happy place with two wins in last two appearances here. Talent is there, just needs to get things moving in the right direction.

9 Sir George Bowen: Talent is there and should be fitter for the fresh up performances. Best version would just about win this.

Selections: 11-3-7-9

Race 8

7 Mohs Em Down: Gets down to this part of the world from Auckland where the form has been strong. Should relish this opportunity and be very hard to beat tonight.

6 The Lone Ranger: Talented pacer back from a spell and does go good races in a fresh condition. Made some big inroads last campaign and can pick that back up here.

1 Bella Veloce: Auckland pacing next to the name looks good for an assignment like this. Should get a nice trip here and can certainly run at them late and grab a top four spot.

3 Mach Little Soaky: Back from a bit of a freshen up and looked good winning a workout last weekend. More than capable of playing a role in this assignment today.

Selections: 7-6-1-3

Race 9

1 Quick As Fire: The barrier draw god finely look down favourably. Two good runs in last two from tricky draws and tonight gets the ace. That should really turn things around.

9 Allonblack: In good form and could end up land in the perfect spot here if things go the way they look like they might. Can win with the right shot at them.

3 Arty Pharty: Strong winner last time out and jumps up into a very winnable race for a first go in the grade. Set to make the presence felt.

8 Cool And Calculating: Better than the formline suggests and not a lot of luck recently. Even field here so don’t be surprised to see a big performance.

Selections: 1-9-3-8

Race 10

2 Jazmin Royale: Opened up the career with a really good run for second on debut., This field is even, but no stronger. A good winning chance.

4 Macarthur: Todd Mitchell trained first starter who has shown a bit of ability in workouts and trials, can give this a decent shake if the manners come forward.

6 Prince Mackendon: Ability is there, just needs to get the feet moving properly early. Could win this with any luck.

7 Blue Coman: Enigmatic trotter who shouldn’t still be a maiden anymore but is. Manners the key and can certainly win, but a big risk.

Selections: 2-4-6-7

BEST: 7 About Turn (Race 6)

NEXT: 7 Mohs Em Down (Race 8)

VALUE: 1 Sea Change (Race 4)
