Race 1:

5 The Empress: Held up on the markers and got a gap late and charged at the line. A more clear kind of air coming here. Can win.

4 Flying Steps: Consistent performer in recent starts and continuing to go from strength to strength. Should measure up tonight and prove to be competitive.

2 Some Do: Impressive maiden victory last time out and looks to have a future ahead. Drawn well here and should be able to punch forward and get handy.

8 Ivana Flybye: Facing a significant drop in grade here tonight after taking on some strong types lately. Wide draw, but good enough to overcome it.

Selections: 5-4-2-8

Race 2:

12 Young Conqueror: Has raced much stronger fields this campaign and been competitive in all of them. Should be able to handle this field, even from the second line.

2 Hit The Sky: Form line paints a pretty picture here and with a good draw and an even enough looking field there’s a big chance of going one better.

7 American Me: Impressive win second up last time out at Cambridge. Has the all round ability to give this field a good shake. Chance again.

1 Lagertha: Handy type back from a spell and should get a pretty sweet trip from the inside barrier draw and could sneak up on them late.

Selections: 12-2-7-1

Race 3:

9 Major Rage: Has got better in each of the three appearances at the race to date. Might need a little luck from the inside of the second row but would deserve a winning turn.

8 Lindi Lincoln: Talented enough type back from a spell and readied nicely with a decent workout effort. Has to be considered a good chance here tonight.

1 Down The Hatch: Showed some strong improvement from debut effort to the last start effort for third. Good draw to work from here too so a big chance of going a couple better.

5 Sabreur: Probably shouldn’t still be a maiden, but is and generally is always competitive. Can play a role here if things pan out nicely.

Selections: 9-8-1-5

Race 4:

10 Kay Cee: Took on a pretty smart field last time and wasn’t too far away from them last time after an early gallop. Can make amends in tonight’s assignment.

13 Havehorsewilltravel: Appears to have a large amount in the ability department but the manners are still an issue. Too good to drop just right now.

5 Eyre I Go: Back to form with a bold second last time out. Manners always a bit of a concern but ability wise, he’s up to anything in this field.

12 Kapai: Hit the line with a bit of power last week in the fresh up performance. Should be better for the run and not the worst here tonight.

Selections: 10-13-5-12

Race 5:

4 Henry Hu: Starting to build a bit of a following after two strong wins from two starts. Should be in line to make it three from three tonight.

5 Line Up: Returned to racing in strong fashion last time out with a dominant win. This is harder but does look to have the all-round game.

10 Ball Of Art: Should find this is a little bit easier than some of the more recent assignments. Mobile is a big assist too. Looks a strong each way chance.

6 Matai Geordie: You can only but win and on three out of four occasions that’s exactly what’s happened. Clearly capable of getting some of the action here.

Selections: 4-5-10-6

Race 6

3 Baileys Knight: Superb effort to finish third last time out in a tricky race. Clean beginning from the unruly and he’s a big chance of getting success tonight.

1 Bettorstartdreaming: Looked a tragedy beaten last time out when driven quietly fresh up. Might need to ping away from the inside draw though.

10 Star Galleria: Class customer who begins his NZ Cup campaign tonight. Might need a run, but class act who can’t be counted out of consideration.

7 The Devils Own: Resumed in stylish fashion with a big win in the Winter Cup. Kept on ice since then but best would stand up to most in this.

Selections: 3-1-10-7

Race 7

3 Double Up: Started the career with a dominant maiden victory. Certainly looks a big chance of doing just as the name would suggest.

5 Nurburgring: Always in our around the action and does tend to race handy to the speed tonight and give his followers plenty to cheer for.

9 Copy That: Been away from the track to freshen right up for this. Might need some luck from the inside of the second line but looks an each way hope.

4 Happy Place: Has shown a bit of ability in the short career to date. Shouldn’t be too far away from them here from a handy draw.

Selections: 3-5-9-4

Race 8

9 CK Spur: Racing in a rich vein of form at the moment and most importantly trotting straight and true. Looks a big chance tonight to get another win on the board.

10 Sunny Glenis: Well deserved win in last week’s sprint trip battle. 40m a big handicap but it’s only a small field so not the worst chance of going back-to-back.

6 Sex On Fire: Consistent performer who is never far away from them no matter what the challenge in. Probably not a strong winning hope, but each way prospect for sure.

2 Invictus: Held in high regard but got it wrong last time out. Best version would measure up here off the front tape though.

Selections: 9-10-6-2

Race 9

8 Double Or Nothing: Surely that all-elusive maiden win has to come at some point soon. In great form and very deserving. A chance again tonight.

2 Cloud Break: There was a few of that spotted that big strides late when fresh up and finishing fourth. Better for that run and in with a chance tonight.

9 Ohoka Bandit: Showed a bit of promise with a strong effort to finish third. Might need a small element of luck from the inside of the second row tonight.

4 Brydon Earl: Has to be considered a big chance tonight on the back of some strong workout and trial form and Zachary Butcher’s choice to take the reins.

Selections: 8-2-9-4

Race 10

6 Callies Delight: Put in some strong work late in a fresh state last time out and only going to be better for that run. Can round this field up.

2 Allonblack: Always a chance in a field like this and even more so from the positive draw here. Will give a huge sight and hope to hold them off late.

13 Lynton Creek: Handy type back from a spell for this assignment tonight and although likely to have to get around them all, he looks a strong place chance at least.

7 MT Pockets: This is his kind of race. Needs to get forward, keep them honest and then run them off their feet over the final lap. Can do it too.

Selections: 6-2-13-7

Race 11

8 Resonate: Late gallop didn’t help things last week when in a fresh state. Manners always the key but good enough to win this if in the right mood.

2 Splitting Image: Knocking on the door and trotting nice and square at the moment. Will give this a decent shake with a repeat performance of the most recent runs.

9 Highland Queen: Nursed to the line at Cambridge when finishing second. Confidence building effort that and with manners not the worst here.

7 Chinski: Couple of handy efforts in last two appearances. Manners a bit of a concern but with them there’s a good chance of success.

Selections: 8-2-9-7

BEST: 9 CK Spur (Race 8)

NEXT: 4 Henry Hu (Race 5)

VALUE: 3 Baileys Knight (Race 6)
