Nevele Fillies Series update

The Hororata Trotting Club heat of the Nevele R Fillies Series to be held on the grass at Methven on Sunday 10th February will be a “Conditioned” heat, like the Ashburton heat.

It was felt that the upper echelon of fillies have plenty of other racing opportunities such as the Alabar Sires Stakes and PGG Wrightson Yearling Sales race which will be on the 15th February at Addington.

It is about trying to give the middle to lower class filly further opportunities within the series who can then go on to the open heats, consolation and all the bigger races later in the season

The stake for the conditioned heats for both Ashburton and Hororata will be $14,999 and it is proposed that they be conditioned to R70 fillies with Lifetime Earnings up to and including $50,000 only.  These were the conditions last season and is currently being reviewed and signed off by the handicapper but we are not really expecting a change.

Conditioned placings will be ranked behind open heat placings for the Final/Consolation i.e.

Open Heat winners, Conditioned heat winners, Open heat seconds, Conditioned heat seconds etc.

The estimated $140,000 Group 1 Final will be held on May 10th at Addington with the Consolation being also held that night.
