Knights win Stable Shout

This month's stable shout winners are Geoff and Judy Knight of Roxburgh, Central Otago.

The Stable Shout is a monthly award to recognise trainers who are going the extra mile to deliver exceptional service to their owners.

Geoff and Judy were nominated by one of their owners, Gary Drake who had the following to say:

"I am a member of the (infamous) Goesallday syndicate who race Armstrong with Geoff and Judy Knight. I would have to say that Geoff in particular does a fantastic job of keeping us up to date of with what is happening with the horse. With syndicate members in Hawkes Bay, Otago and Southland it was always going to be a really hard task to keep us all up to date with the happenings but Geoff has created a Facebook Messenger page for syndicate members. I have never met most of the syndicate but we all communicate daily, which has put a whole lot of fun in to owning this racehorse.

As you know Geoff created syndicate and each of us only put in $200 before Christmas and raced Mr Woodlea for a couple of months before selling him to Perth and buying Armstrong. We are still racing on our original investment plus what the horses have won in stake money, which we all think is bloody brilliant. I have raced a few horses in syndicates before but now have a young family and would find it really hard justifying paying monthly training fees, so this syndicate is absolutely perfect.

I am unsure if Geoff and Judy have won a monthly stable shout in the past, but I can honestly say that they deserve one. By using a bit of initiative and thinking outside the square they have got about 13 people racing a horse that otherwise may not be. I personally have about 15-20 family and friends that have a wager on the horse each start and if the other syndicate members are similar, what this is doing for turnover has to be good for the industry."

Geoff and Judy will now get $100 to shout themselves and the staff morning tea to celebrate their wonderful performance in customer service.
