Club of the Month – Addington Raceway
Harness Racing New Zealand is thrilled to announce a new monthly feature, Club of the Month.
Similar to the Stable Shout concept where we recognize trainers who are exceeding expectations in terms of owners experiences, the Harness Racing New Zealand owners subcommittee wish to also acknowledge clubs who have gone above and beyond to ensure all owners (winning or otherwise) are looked after and appreciated on race day.
This month our winner is again Addington Raceway, which was nominated by Jenny Butt, Philippa Nairn and Greg Crawford.
All three had very positive feedback about their experience at the IRT Harness Jewels and how the Addington team coped despite the unfortunate weather conditions.
Jenny Butt said: “I would like to commend NZMTC on the excellent way they coordinated Jewels day at Addington.
The weather did not detract a great race day enjoyed by all on course. It was lovely to see committee members mingling with patrons.
The young team of hospitality staff on the top floor were so welcoming and very efficient which made the day so enjoyable. Food was first class racing and racing was of the highest standard, I would like to thank everyone concerned on presenting such a day.”
Philippa Nairn said: “Our experience on Jewels Day could not have been much better. Our venue - inviting, I'd say clean, crisp and beautifully set out tables.
The Catering staff worked so hard and even before the rooms reached capacity, I noticed beads of perspiration on many foreheads. It was go, go, go!
The waitresses, were happy, pleasant, smiling, nothing was a problem. I liked their Uniforms!
The food was of a high standard and plenty of choices and the day seemed to run like clockwork and was over all too soon.
Well done and congratulations to the Catering Manager and his team and Addington Raceway personnel for one great day.”
Greg Crawford said: “I really thought that Addington, and despite the weather, did a really good job with the Jewels.
From an owners prospective it was really great that our syndicate members were allowed access to the stables, as we all like to see our horses prior to any race. I know this sounds minor but I appreciated the opportunity to collect our owners pack prior to Saturday.
I am sure Addington will have ideas for further improvement should they be given the opportunity to host the Jewels again.”
We congratulate the Addington Raceway for going the extra mile on IRT Harness Jewels day and encourage other owners to nominate a club they have had a positive experience with by emailing Jess Smith – [email protected]
