ATC 2019 Syndicate:

Over the last two decades, the Auckland Trotting Club has formed 17 syndicates, each comprising either 40 or 50 shares and racing between 2 and 4 horses.
To date, all 17 syndicates have proved, or are proving, very successful:

At this year’s Australasian Classic Yearling Sale or the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale, the Auckland Trotting Club 2019 Syndicate’s yearlings were selected by the top trainers Robert Dunn, Brent Mangos and Logan Hollis / Shane Robertson:

Name: Alta Redeemer
Trainer: Robert Dunn

Name: Christianshavtime

Trainer: Logan Hollis / Shane Robertson

Name: Bet West
Trainer: Brent Mangos

When you join an ATC Syndicate, not only do you get to enjoy the thrill of owning and racing harness racehorses, but you can also be very involved in Harness Racing generally, initially at Alexandra Park and the wider Auckland/Waikato area and then quite possibly venturing further afield in New Zealand and Australia, as some previous ATC Syndicates have.

There are many advantages involved with being part of one of the Auckland Trotting Club Syndicates. These include; the comparatively low costs, the opportunity to share in the ownership of well bred horses trained by some of the best trainers in New Zealand, making new friendships with like-minded people, having total involvement in the Harness Racing industry and having the opportunity to participate in social events and possibly travel throughout the year.

Every month, syndicate members receive a detailed newsletter documenting each horse’s progress, member news, and other information. Regular updates are placed on a phone-in message service, which can be accessed at anytime from anywhere in New Zealand free of charge.

We have already had syndicate members from a wide geographical location around New Zealand, from Kaeo and Kaitaia in the North, to Dunedin and Invercargill in the South, as well as from the USA, Canada, England, Japan, Australia (Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia) and even Iceland.

Each year of establishing a new Syndicate, the Auckland Trotting Club has implemented their hugely successful formula of buying three richly bred yearlings at the Yearling Sales, with these horses being selected by and trained by some of New Zealand’s leading trainers.

Nelson Harness Racing Club – June 8 and 10

BIG NEWS OUT OF NELSON - we have increased stakes from what they were in Winter 2017.  The stake for the Winter Cup is now $14,000 and the Handicap Trot has increased to $9000.

The Nelson Harness Racing Club’s winter race meeting will be on Friday June 8 and Sunday June 10. The start time for Race One on Friday is 11.35 am and the start time for Race One on Sunday is also 11.35 am. There is no gate charge and race books will be available from the secretary office and the driver’s room.

The weather forecast is for fine weather so make sure you come on up and enjoy some Nelson hospitality.

Hot food and drink will be available in the Drivers Room for all trainers, drivers and their staff.

A coffee cart will be outside the numbers room in the stabling area.  Food and drink will also be available to purchase in the bar and at the food and drink stalls.

The club would like to invite all trainers, drivers, staff and owners to attend a BBQ on Thursday 7th June at the Public Bar from 4pm.  The club is putting this on in recognition of your continued support of our race meeting.  There will be raffles available so bring a few coins.

Breakfast will be again available from 7am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at the OTB rooms.

We are holding a punters competition on Sunday 10th June in the Waimea Lounge.  Cost of entry is the betting money $350 ($50 per race).  Teams can be made up of 1 to 4 people.  The competition will be run over races 3 to 9.  The prize is $1000 and of course the money you have made betting.  For more information and how to register contact the club. (Note- We require a minimum of 20 teams to run this competition).

As mentioned above, stakes have increased for this race meeting.  We couldn't do this without the continued support of all our sponsors.

Nelson Pine Industries are again sponsoring our Prelude and the Nelson Winter Cup which we are excited to announce will be for stakes of $10,000 and $14,000 respectively. So bring your R60 plus pacer to Nelson and race for $24000 in stake money!

Winning connections will be presented with a trophy and are invited to celebrate their success in the president’s room.

This year we will be the inaugural running “Mike Austin Memorial Trot” this race is for R40 and faster trotters and will be run on the second day of the meeting over 2400m.  The winner will receive a trophy and a dress rug.  The club would like to thank Jill Austin and family as well as Blair & Lisa Orange for their support.  This race will be a wonderful tribute to “Mike” a great educator and trainer of the square gaiter and once a local Nelson lad.

Just to note the R40 and faster Handicap trot on both days will be run over the 2400m distance, previously the second day the race was run over 3000m.
The club spoke to a number of different trainers and drivers about a possible change and the majority decision was to try the shorter distance.

We will be again running our Pink Pick Selections we will be asking drivers of the selected horse in each race to wear a pink helmet cover. We have had a really great run with this promotion so keep an eye on the picks.

For nominations and stabling please contact Jason Broad (Race day Secretary)
on 03 5446616 or 021 127 2912.  For all other inquiries please call Kristie Hill on 0274118608.
