Auckland's eyes on Menangle

By Adam Hamilton

NEVER has a string of Sydney features races carried so much importance in New Zealand.

With the Inter Dominion returning to Auckland at the end of the year, so many of the probable stars of the series step-out at Menangle over the next three weeks.

And it starts with the $200,000 Group 1 Chariots Of Fire tonight.

Stars like Chase Auckland, Ignatius, Ashley Locaz, Poster Boy and others already look key players for Auckland given they will be five-year-olds.

Throw-in next week’s two Miracle Mile qualifying races where the likes of Tiger Tara – who may now race on next season – Thefixer, My Field Marshal, Cruz Bromac, Star Galleria, Our Uncle Sam and others strut their stuff.

Given we had Kiwi four-year-olds Spankem and Im Pats Delight play such a pivotal role in last year’s Melbourne Inter Dominion, it’s important to keep an eye on the NSW Derby as well. Those heats are tomorrow week ahead of the final a week later.

Given it’s such a vintage three-year-old crop, it wouldn’t surprise to see couple from the likes of Im Anothermasterpiece, Muscle Factory, Hurricane Harley, Centenario, etc dip their toe into the Auckland Inter Dominion as early four-year-olds.
