6 Flying Even Bettor: Deserved the Kindergarten win last time out. Worst draw, but that shouldn’t detract from the chances, has to be a big winning chance.
3 Virgil: Form on the board and a really good second last time out at Alexandra Park behind a smart one. Has to be a big winning chance from a handy draw.
1 Copperfield: Gets the best draw of the lot and was brave in the Kindergarten. Flying Even Bettor has been better in last two though, place best?
2 One Change: Mark Purdon chooses this one over stablemates – where there’s smoke, there’s fire, maybe?
13 You Really Got Me: Bold effort in the Hambletonian to finish fourth. Progressive trotter who is well suited by the mobile here and should be hard to hold out with best manners.
15 Doff Your Cap: Immense talent but doesn’t always get the feet going right. Looking for a complete performance like last time and then it’s game on.
16 Jerry Garcia: Rough and tumble sort of bloke won’t mind a dog fight and just might put some of the young pups of this field to the sword to really find out their abilities.
11 Whatasista: Mobile horse now trained by Tom Bagrie. No surprise to see her pop up here for a place at big odds.
11 Cullenburn: Dour pacer fresh up here and does possess a really good record in that state. Cracking field to take on first up, but certainly a strong winning option.
8 Smokin By: Still learning just how good this guy is. He was very good when last produced here but flopped down south with excuses last time. Win no surprise.
7 Nandolo: Another who doesn’t mind putting them to the sword. Loves to bowl a long and might just punch forward and have a look here. Each way, all day.
5 Mr Yips: North Island visitor with a big motor, but a bag of tricks too. Handles the experience and he can finish top four, no doubts.
4 Wainui Creek: Savaged in front in the Northern Oaks, but oh so brave. Should be able to dominate this field ahead of some loftier targets.
1 Kendra: Speedy filly who is at her potent best when saved up for the one run at them. Gets that chance from the inside draw here and no surprise to see her rolling up late.
5 Kayla Marie: Too good for the older horses at Auckland last time but Wainui Creek had her measure start before that. Will give a sight but place maybe best option.
7 Bubbled Up: Wide draw makes things tricky when it comes to winning, but certainly good enough to fill a top four placing here with a quiet trip in transit.
10 Sundees Son: In the zone and trotting like a stag. Very deserving of a big race and with complete manners again should be very hard to beat in what is a very good field.
7 Winterfell: Needed that run last time as evidenced by the fact he was caught late. Class customer who should be right in the fight here.
8 Majestic Man: Beat a pretty smart one last time and stringing them together in a row with ease. Big test here but one of three very strong winning chances.
2 One Over Da Stars: A risky inclusion. Her best though is quite remarkable, would love to see her behaving and mixing it with these to find out just how good she is.
4 Ultimate Sniper: Normal transmission back in Northern Derby. Should be punching forward, finding the top and running them into the dirt once again.
7 Jesse Duke: The only horse to have beaten Ultimate Sniper and might get that chance again here if things happen. Good enough to measure up, but pound for pound he’s the chaser.
3 Heisenberg: Likely early leader with free-running attitude. Should punch out and may look to take them by surprise here over the short trip. Dangerous if allowed own terms.
8 Chiller Bay: Will relish a strongly run 1980m here and quietly driven with a cold shot at them a top four finish isn’t out of question.
11 Ultimate Stride: Touted as a very good horse. Trained by a very good trotting trainer. Ticking a lot of boxes and expected to be a very strong winning hope here.
10 Musculature Metro: Held in very high regarded and Orange jumps in the bike. Trials and workouts have been very good and expecting a bold display here.
8 Muscle Mountain: Unbeaten in two starts, but those in small fields. Wide draw and big line up here make it harder, will have to be very good to win again.
2 Zigzagzoo: Trial win a couple of weeks ago was bold and gets the right draw here to try and lead them up and make them chase. Not the worst chance.
9 Cheerful: Been a little better than most of these this season. Wide draw makes it a bit harder but her class should come through provided she can relax and land in a handy spot.
5 Monaro Maro: Smashed them at Motukarara on Sunday and does possess incredibly high speed when saved up for that one run. Needs to trot along, but good enough to be a player.
12 Majestic Chevron: Last couple of efforts have been pretty bold. Probably better coming off the speed too. Look for her getting into the race late.
4 Full Of Hope: Really quiet trial win at Ashburton on Tuesday. Master trainer. Handy draw. Has to be some chance in a pretty open contest.
7 A G’s White Socks: Great run at Ascot Park to nearly grab it. Somewhere back to near his best and should give this a decent shake too with the right kind of run.
1 Forgotten Highway: Smart customer back from a spell and gets the ace draw first up. He’ll give a huge sight from there and no surprise to see him win fresh.
2 Alta Maestro: On speed runner who will look to dash them along here over the short course. Hard to catch if he gets his own terms and can bowl along freely.
5 Elle Mac: Luck has not been her friend recently. Best is very good and will stick on tougher than most in this line up.
3 Double O Heaven: Not a lot of luck fresh up when looking for room. Better for that run and a handy draw here and might just slip under the guard. A live hope.
8 Feel The Money: Backed up strong Westport win with good effort at Reefton. Raced in better fields and been very competitive. Same here again.
13 Sweet Mary: Right on the top of her game at the moment and even from the second line is a strong each way chance once again.
7 Enchantee: Smart mare who is in good form and with a hot speed here she might be the smokey in the field at a good each way price.
8 Kings Landing: Couldn’t quite get there down South last time out. Trotter destined for great things and should get back in the winning groove here.
11 Ronald J: Smart customer who was too good for them last time. Will have to fly the tape, but capable of that and should give a bit sight.
2 Take After Me: Might look to jump and run them here. Loves to bowl a long and will fight like a caged tiger. Back markers should be wary.
12 Amaretto Sun: Class customer who if on his best game would give this a big shake but tough off a big mark.
5 Letterkenny Boy: Life didn’t quite go to plan down south fresh up. Redemption time here and should really get back into the winning groove.
11 Zinny Mach: Under rated pacer with a really good turn of foot. Needs a run through from the second line, but can certainly fill a placing.
13 Franco Niven: Smart customer who was strong last time. That was in maiden grade though and this is tougher. Interested to see how he measures up.
1 Franco Texas: Gate speed horse with the right draw. Might look to lead and hand up to the fave and from there is a big place chance at least.
BEST: 4 Wainui Creek (Race 4)
NEXT: 5 Letterkenny Boy (Race 12)
VALUE: 3 Double O Heaven (Race 10)
