11 Letterkenny Boy: Probably the less said about last weekend the better. Redemption time is now, and it should be served up in the form of a short priced winner to open the night.
6 Tiebreaker: Showed a fair amount of ticker to win on debut, that was a big performance. Should go on with it and do a nice job starting with the step up in grade.
9 Pro Surfer: Dunn runners with a bit of upside but out of form at the moment. Back in Canterbury though, so might enjoy being back out at the beach catching some waves.
3 Prosecution Witness: Good win last time out after a strong second the start before. Wouldn’t expect the rise in grade to provide too many issues for him.
3 Lone Star Lad: Too good for them in a juniors event last time out. Just smoked them. Mobile suits here and should be pretty hard to beat again with any luck.
4 Sugar Cane: Gate speed mare who might be able to get across them early here which puts her in a prime position. Can fill a placing fresh up.
9 Missie Castleton: Running big races, but this draw isn’t ideal. Will have to snag back and look to get into it late which she’s more than capable of doing.
14 Jerry Garcia: Always a chance. Won’t mind having to loop the field at some point and look to get into it and can out tough most challengers here.
7 Cullens Bet: There’s been a bit to like in the two runs to date and from the right stable with the right man in the bike. Expecting a big run here and should go close to breaking maiden status.
9 Arden Roanoke: Two grand performances to open the career. Wide draw doesn’t help things much here though with some luck needed and a nice run into it.
11 Lottie Moon: Geoff Dunn trained first starter with some good workout and trial form next to the name. Has to be a leading contender based on what we’ve seen.
3 Dan Fernando: Another first starter with plenty of upside judging by workouts and trials. Should play a role in this from the good draw.
3 Enhance You Calm: Six from six and primed and ready to make it seven from seven here. A world above most of these at this point in their careers. Should be just winning.
9 You Really Got Me: Big run at Ashburton in the Hambletonian. Will be able to work his way into this at some stage and give his rivals a bit of a fright.
5 Lotamuscle: Just too good for them at Ashburton in the Hambletonian. When he’s on song, he’s pretty good and you’d expect another bold run here.
2 Baxter: Limited experience but he’s been good in both including third behind Lotamuscle last time out. Will keep getting better and a good chance here.
2 Wainui Creek: Savaged in front in the Northern Oaks, but fought bravely to finish third. Filly of immense potential and looks very hard to beat here from a good draw.
1 Kayla Marie: Took on the older horses last time out and was too good. Should get the dream run here just off the speed and might be able to give the fave a fright up the lane late.
7 Bubbled Up: Handy run at Auckland behind the stablemate last week to finish second. Drawn badly compared to other rivals but will hit the line strong.
5 Kendra: Has the speed to match it with any of these fillies, but needs the right run to suit. They may sit and have one crack and she can get into it late.
9 Ultimate Stide: Williamson trained first starter with a bit of specking and talk around. Tricky draw, but will be well schooled and primed for a big debut.
8 Muscle Mountain: Won both starts to date and clearly a horse of huge potential. Wide draw makes things harder here but you can’t leave out.
1 Zigzagzoo: Impressive trial win recently and comes up with the right draw. Should punch out and land in the right places to be a chance in this field.
5 Musculature Metro: Held in high regard by the stable and has looked pretty good in all trial and workout runs to date. Has gate speed so expect him to go forward.
5 Cullenburn: Nice type back from a spell and has a good fresh up record. Can leave himself open to getting rolled late but might be too good for these.
6 Samskara: Brilliant Blair Orange drive got the chocolates at Ashburton. She’s going great guns at the moment and can be a chance again tonight.
1 Pats Dragon: High speed horse with a big motor. Clean beginning and nice run on the markers and anything is possible late with that turn of foot.
4 Gore Bay: Gone slightly off the boil in recent starts, but his best is good enough to test most in this field with any luck.
9 Sundees Son: Has been the dominant force in recent weeks with two big wins. Trotting boldly which is always the challenge with him but on song he’s hard to beat.
5 Majestic Hurricane: Another in good nick. Has a big motor and when on the top of his game, he’s a tough horse to beat. Might give them something to chase here.
1 Theodosia: Enigmatic type with a good motor but a bag of tricks too. Dangerous if in the right mood, especially off the front.
3 Clifden Clowers: In great form at the moment and doing things right and getting in all the right places. No surprise to see him fill a top three placing here with any luck.
10 Double O Heaven: Just put a line through the fresh up run. Not much went right there. Relying on a fast tempo here and the gaps to open up. Good enough to burst through late and snare them.
6 Tabitha Franco: Big run last time out behind a smart one for her first run up in grade. Even field here, so she’s a chance once more with things going here way.
1 The Governor: Some big runs in recent efforts and a good draw to work from here tonight. Should be in a forward position and not far away from them when things get serious.
8 Adam Patron: The Hope stable is making hay while the sun shines at the moment, particularly in junior driver events. No surprise to see them right in the mix here with any luck.
6 Heisenberg: Classy three-year-old taking on the older horses here. High speed pacer with a real impressive cruising speed. Won’t leave much to chance you’d imagine and hard to beat.
3 Enchantee: Got the job done last time following a big Group One placing. Can hum the gate here and and give them something to think about.
5 Franco Texas: Speed horse too, but perhaps slightly off his best form. No reason why he can’t give this a decent shake though with any luck. A leading contender.
10 Sails: She loves a dog fight and won’t mind having to get around them and into this at some point. Will keep fighting better than most when the acid really goes on.
BEST: 6 Heisenberg (Race 10)
NEXT: 3 Enhance Your Calm
VALUE: 10 Double O Heaven (Race 9)
