8 Caroline Wozniacki: Should find her happy place here. Has raced well in fields much stronger than this in the past and all things being equal looks very hard to beat today with good manners.
1 Evermore: First starter with a bit of breeding on the side. Michael House puts on the polish and in this part of the world, that’s always a dangerous prospect.
6 Shona Mary: Joins the Scott Dickson stable after competing in Southland. Manners are usually good which is a big bonus and shouldn’t be too far away here.
7 Burt Munro: The old boy loves a grass track and the small field today means he can be a major player late in proceedings if he’s had the trip to suit.
2 Mr Billiards: Has been knocking on the door throughout this campaign and won’t get any better opportunity to get a win on the board than what presents today. Has to be a leading contender.
5 American Me: First starter with some strong workout and trial form heading into today’s debut assignment. Right driver on board and looks a good each way hope.
6 Sheikh Yabooty: Has done enough in the short career to date to suggest that in this field a placing is not out of the question.
1 Jackhammer Joe: Up from the Mainland and should find this a wee bit easier. Hasn’t really got close yet but will obtain career best placing today.
2 Xmas Bay: Hits the House train and gets an in-form Sheree Tomlinson in the bike. Did go some nice races and won a dual sulky race at Motukarara last week pretty impressively. Can win.
3 Ain’t Nothing Bettor: Three fourths in last three performances have all been good. Finds one or two better most times but well in commission here today.
4 Babyfacenelson: Did it the hard way last time out and wasn’t that far away at the finish. Should stand up pretty well here you’d imagine in a small field.
1 Mac Paua: There’s been a bit of support in the two runs to date but got it wrong last time. Not a deep, nor big field. So some hope.
6 Jetenara: Showed a bit of ticker when second last time out. This is a good field with plenty of form runners, but there’s not reason why a very forward performance couldn’t eventuate today.
8 Ally Mae: In grand form and loving life on the grass. Expecting a big run, even from the wide draw today. Should be coming at them late.
3 The Kapiti Express: Get the feeling he might have more upside than most here. Big maiden win. Still learning but raw talent should take him a wee way.
7 The Bandit Queen: Found form in grand style recently. Big win last time out and repeat effort would come as no shock.
5 Von Richthofen: Loved the Addington run last week behind a pretty smart one. That form should stack up for a whole lot here today. Looks really hard to beat.
2 Bettor Trenz: Up from Canterbury where there has been some encouraging signs. Good draw and right driver to take the race by the horns.
4 Westar Sam: Up and into the Dickson barn - a formula which has worked multiple times before. Hard to catch but good when in the right mood.
1 Red River Dash: Here based solely on the draw really. Should work out pretty nicely and a top four placing is within reach.
4 Go Getta: Loves doing it tough. Grinding rivals into the dirt is the real go in life. Big win at Reefton a few starts back and two good runs since then too. Hard to stop today.
6 The Night Hawk: Interesting runner. Showed a bit of ability in Southland but went off the boil in two starts before coming North. No grass form, but good enough to play a role.
2 Geoff’s Legacy: No go last time out but everything prior to that suggested he’d be a good chance in today’s assignment from a good draw.
7 Phillydotcom: Hard not to be impressed by the win last time out. Needs some luck from the draw but can be a chance.
7 Imola: Has run in a NZ Cup and gets in here off just the 10m handicap. Good sixth last time out. Can fly the tapes and should be very hard to beat today.
5 Bill Haley: Last start was in a Group Two event at Cambridge where he was beaten by Jack’s Legend. Should be easier and loves the grass track.
6 Alta Leonie: No luck last week but will be better for the run anyway. Should be right in the middle of things today.
2 Bettor Sensation: Knocks on the door but never quite grabs it, or so it would seem. Chance off the front today.
7 Majestic One: Too much last time out after finding the front. Doesn’t have to get around as many today which should help. Hard to hold out with his own terms.
8 November Guy: You’d love a stable full of horses like him. Last run was in Cambridge Trotters’ Flying Mile so should enjoy this a bit more. 50m won’t stop him being a player.
4 Laura Bush: Two in a row signals things are moving forward. Grass track today makes thing interesting but will give the backmarkers something to catch.
3 Valley Star: Not the worst in this, particularly if in the right mood. Can trot a long a bit and runs on the Mainland have been encouraging enough.
5 Lincoln Moment: Bit of a drop in class today which should help net a positive result. Small field and an aggressive driver enhance things even further, right in contention.
6 TC Business: No star, just a good honest toiler who will give 100 percent. Does get a good chance here to get things moving though.
1 Bonnie Boy: Might not be the worst for a price off the pole here. Can bowl a long a bit just needs to be in the right mood. Dangerous prospect.
2 Express Play: Causes heartache more than joy but goes near enough and shouldn’t be too far away in this line up.
BEST: 4 Go Getta (Race 6)
NEXT: 5 Von Richthofen (Race 5)
VALUE: 6 Jetenara (Race 4)
