2 Runcle: Impressive winner at Motukarara in the South recently on the grass. Drawn to be on the speed here too so shouldn’t be too far away from the action.
1 Capital Plan: First grass track assignment since coming north and has placed on the grass previously. Good draw so might be a nice each way chance.
10 Crackared: In good form at the moment and has Cheree Wigg in the bike, that usually spells success in these types of races. Second line draw, but shouldn’t be too far away.
6 Rackateers Boy: Another going well at the moment and has a one start for one placing record on the green top so has to be a chance again today.
7 Miss Slippers: First starter from the Rogerson barn who won a trial recently quite impressively. Primed for a big debut and should have no problems winning here with manners.
10 Special Lass: Carried a heap of support on debut but let the side down. Has to be given a strong chance again.
3 French Affair: Still learning what the trotting game is all about but gets in quite well here. Has looked good enough to win a race like this in workouts and trials.
9 Te Touka Dawn: Two good runs to open the career and comes into this as a live chance of filling a top four spot.
12 Tempo Rose: Drops out of a Group One assignment for this one today. Should notice the drop in grade and be awfully hard to beat.
5 Beaudiene Emerald: Comes north after some handy enough efforts in the South Island. Surprised a win hasn’t come yet but a good chance here.
11 K B La Salle: Always goes a nice race and even from today’s second line draw you have to afford a strong chance based on that good form.
9 Geoff’s Legacy: Grass track placing recently gives good credence to chances. Tricky draw but will be running on strongly late in the piece.
1 Adieu Flirt: On speed runner with the barrier draw to make things happen. Has trialed up nicely on the grass before too so a big show today from the good draw.
10 Machbrad: Nice horse here to make the most of the opportunity. Wears the Herlihy colours so natural respect and the talent is certainly good enough to win this.
7 Nerve Of Steel: In good nick and won’t mind the grass track challenge. Expect him on the speed and making others work to chase.
2 El Capitan: Should enjoy this challenge after a bold introduction to North Island racing last time out. A live chance from a good draw.
9 Zip Code: Joins the Wallis and Hackett barn after showing some promise early in the career. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a big performance today fresh up from new quarters.
6 La Vitesse: Ticking along nicely and edging towards something worthwhile. This field looks well within range if a nice run opens up.
3 Last Frontier: Made a mistake last time out but the run prior for fourth was one that suggested a strong run grass track race would suit. Can fill a top three spot.
4 Rosado: Interesting runner. Zachary Butcher doing the steering and recent runs have been near enough to suggest a chance in this line up.
10 Major Hippie: Big motor, but a few tricks and no 100% genuine at times. Can’t ignore first up from new quarters though. A live chance.
4 Cullen’s Caviar: Much better than the first two runs back would suggest. Good draw here to get on the speed and give them something to think about.
13 Marrera: Looked like but galloped last time out on the grass. Needs to behave but can be a big player in this race.
3 Itsokbeingbetter: Always there or thereabouts and the grass track suits. Good draw to work from so has to be a chance.
10 Catch The Dream: Nice type back from a spell. Did place on the grass last season so looking for a big effort fresh up.
3 Viewfield Chatton: Never far away from the action last campaign and drawn well enough today to be on the speed and making rivals work. A real strong winning hope.
8 Kaysarah: Strong introduction to racing with two good efforts. Wide draw here but has shown enough to suggest that a winning turn won’t be long in coming.
1 Dr Ton: Debutant with some nice recent workouts behind him. Should be able to make use of the very good draw and play a part in this.
3 Ruby Rose: Did some work in last start effort behind some stars in the Group One. Should find this a whole lot easier and from a good draw be a strong winning prospect.
1 Errol Finn: Joins the Teaz team and is up from the South Island. Done some good things on grass tracks before and gets a good draw to work from. Hard to hold out.
9 Better Than Most: This draw should work out perfectly. A quiet run on the markers just off the speed and a good opportunity to burst up at them late in proceedings.
8 Misty Memory: One who will love the grass track. Horror draw but it is a reasonably even field. Has to be a chance.
14 Majestic One: Took no part last night after galloping behind the gate but smashed some very good horses in start prior to that. 40 metres might not be enough to hold him out.
11 Great Fantasy: Up and coming trotter who gives the impression he’ll enjoy the grass track way of life. Strong victory last time and can go on with it.
8 Need Luck: Raced on Friday night but has shown real speed on the grass before and if saved for one run could be very dangerous.
9 Grenado: Abernethy horses always seem to go well on the grass and while well travelled over the last month he’s a big hope here.
5 Bill Haley: Big run in the Reefton Cup. Manners always the main concern though. Needs to behave. If he does he might just bully them into submission here.
11 Patanjali: Making a good first of life as a North Islander. Won’t mind the grass and certainly good enough to play a role in this race today.
10 Parker: In great form at the moment with two strong wins from last two starts. Handling every challenge and a good each way hope again today.
9 Vibe: Another in good nick with strong grass track credentials. Looking for another big effort today in a wide open contest.
7 In The Shadows: Raced in fields stronger than this and performed very well in the past. Shouldn’t be too far away from winning this based on those efforts.
5 Toro Delago: Two runs back from a spell have been good and with peak fitness there’s a good chance of success today with Peter Ferguson doing the steering.
8 Stars Delight: Better than the recent form and gets in here quite well even from the wide draw. Has to be afford a strong chance of a top three finish.
2 Ally Mae: Never far away from the action and with a good draw and a naturally aggressive driver you’d expect a big performance today.
5 Prince George: Should relish the grass and the short course nature of today’s race. They’ll be chasing him early and he might just be hard to peg back if allowed his own terms.
9 Cyclone Joe Parker: Best horse in the race but manners are an issue. A complete trotting performance and he’s hard to beat here.
4 Caroline Wozniacki: Twice placed from two starts on the grass and in here nicely. The good statistics should continue today with another bold effort.
2 Speedy Lavros: Loves the green top and made the most of it in the past. Has to be given a live chance today from a handy spot.
BEST: 12 Tempo Rose (Race 3)
NEXT: 3 Ruby Rose (Race 8)
VALUE: 9 Zip Code (Race 5)
