8 Miss Blissful: Has been very competitive in fields much stronger than this one in recent months. Should be able to bully her way into contention here and hold too many guns for rivals.
2 Malabar Spur: Seems to race best when on or near the speed and gets that chance tonight from the draw. Can be a really nice each way hope in the race with the right run.
9 Luck Of The Moment: Brave effort last week when finishing third. In well here as it’s no stronger. Can be a player again too.
3 Rave Nation: Manners let the side down last time out. Could we a see a jump and run Abernethy special here if things pan out?
4 Mr Incredible: As per usual, another bold effort last week. Gets the draw inside main rivals tonight so has to be a strong chance to find the perfect spot ahead of them.
5 Phil Bromac: Showed a bit of true grit for a good placing on debut last week and this field isn’t much different. Should be in the mix again.
8 Mac’s Tomado: Comes down the road after a strong debut fourth at HQ in Auckland. Wide draw doesn’t help but clearly capable judging by that first up effort.
2 Carse O Fern Tom: Not much luck last time out but start prior was full of promise. Expect a much better effort tonight from a very good draw.
10 Carlaw Park: Lovely first up run in stronger company at Auckland. Should be able to bully this field into submission based on that run alone here. Looks the best of good things really.
11 Mister Slick: Interesting runner first up for Tim Vince: Has shown ability in the past and one to keep an eye on over the coming months. An each way hope here.
1 Bugalugs: Back to a good draw tonight and that should bode well for the chances. Will be on the speed while others try to chase. Live hope.
9 Jakira: Going well and might just get the trip behind the right horse here tonight. Has to be a big hope if the run works out the way it looks like it might.
6 Ghostwriter: Jumps out of a Group One challenge for this assignment where she wasn’t disgraced either. Should find it a lot easier and looks a big winning chance.
11 Gladamare: Beat a pretty smart one last season in a Breeders Crown heat and might just slip under the radar a bit here. A live chance after some strong workout efforts.
2 Cowgirls N Angels: Did it tough and kept fighting last time out for a good second. Building towards the first win and gets a chance this evening.
5 Mhai Tickled Pink: Got home nicely to finish third on debut and from a handy enough draw tonight should be thereabouts again in this line up.
1 Go Toddy: Showed a bit of true grit to win first up for Todd Mitchell last time out. This is no doubt harder, but there was enough in the win to suggest a big showing again is possible.
6 Trojan Banner: Been racing in fields far stronger than this one up the road and will be sure to have some strong support from punters this evening. A big chance.
7 Bit Of A Tiger: Another with good Auckland form in the bank and looking to make the most of that here tonight in what is a weaker field than recent assignments.
2 Cheddar’s Princess: Dickie team making a habit of having them ready to win first up at the moment and this one won a workout really nicely recently. No forlorn hope in a fresh state.
2 Bettorstartdreaming: Last start sixth the only blip on the radar but that was when beaten by Ultimate Sniper. So it would pay to ignore. Scratching brings him into the pole and he’s hard to beat from there tonight.
8 Zealand Star: Nice win last time out in first go here at Cambridge. No reason why he can’t be a major player again tonight even from the wide draw.
3 Like A Wildfire: Should be at peak fitness now and option to jump straight on the back of likely leader early. Should make the most of it and can place from that spot.
7 Rain Man: Unbeaten on the track and while beaten wasn’t disgraced last time out. A good longer odds chance to fill a placing.
9 Massive Metro: Ran past Marcoola like he was a maiden on New Year’s Eve. Manners as always the issue, but with them another win looks on the cards.
8 Speeding Spur: Champ trotter back from Aussie campaign. Wide draw doesn’t help but class will take him a really long way in this line up tonight.
5 The Almighty Johnson: Second in Flying Mile late last year and good second in this race last year too. Gate speed to lead early and a live hope from there.
7 Temporale: Goes well at Cambridge and won here on Xmas Eve. Good chance to grab another in an intriguing race.
1 Turn It Up: Dealt them a pacing lesson in the Auckland Cup. As long as he musters up from the inside early he should be too good for them over the mile.
8 Thefixer: NZ Cup champion back in action but cops the wide draw which doesn’t help. Very good horse and can still win, especially if things don’t to to plan from the inside.
5 Ashley Locaz: Going great guns and Auckland Cup run was immense. Should relish the mile here and can be the each way blow out at again, a nice price.
4 Star Galleria: Thought he was going to cause the upset at the top of the straight in the Auckland Cup. Will love a solidly run mile here and can be a player again.
4 Dina Brown: Nice run for third when up in grade last time and falls into a very even and winnable race here. Expecting a bold display.
1 Mathew James: Plenty to like about his maiden win on this track and comes up with the ace draw to work with tonight. That should see him on the speed and in with a chance.
5 Rock N Shard: Doesn’t run bad races, but often devoid of the required little bit of luck. Won’t be far away from them again in this line up.
8 Double Rocket: Looks a horse with a bit of a future judging on the two runs to date. Wide draw but small field helps.
5 Sex On Fire: Galloped on NY Eve, but run after was very good. In good nick and should be able to grab this if she’s on top of her game.
7 Galleon’s Victory: Stable is low-flying and this one is going better than the formline might suggest. Look for a big run.
6 Sertorius: Much better last time out when fourth and gets in here well. Manners are the key but a live chance if they come along with him to the races.
8 Angus Burga: Big win last time out and right on top of the game at the moment. No reason why, even off the 20m, he can’t be a player again.
BEST: 10 Carlaw Park (Race 3)
NEXT: 2 Bettorstartdreaming (Race 6)
VALUE: 1 Go Toddy (Race 5)
