Race 1
6 Pat Campbell: Drops out of a strong open grade race at Ashburton for tonight’s assignment and should give them plenty to think about. A strong winning hope.
7 Trailer Park Girl: Consistent place getter in these types of races and with any luck tonight that elusive victory could present itself.
10 Martin John: Loves to race on the speed, but hard from draw. Field is nowhere near what he’s been racing against and with any luck he should be right in the middle of it.
13 Queen Of Glory: Goes good races every time she steps out. Tough draw but a dog fight up front and she can blast past them all late.
Selections: 6-7-10-13
Race 2
1 Zeddie Marit: Mobile the key to the game tonight. Has been winning workouts and trials but getting it wrong on race day. If manners are there, then a winning turn can come.
12 Doff Your Cap: Another who should appreciate the moving arm this evening. Immense talent, but still learning the game.
5 Aorangi: Had to be taken by the debut performance behind a handy type last week. Clearly going to win a few races and should go close tonight.
8 Phoebe Onyx: Plenty to like about her debut effort too. Widish draw, but that might not be the worst thing in the world.
Selections: 1-12-5-8
Race 3
10 Kacie Cullen: Lovely fresh up run at The Mot last time out and should be better for it. Blair Orange pulling the strings so she’s going to get every opportunity.
5 Bella Veloce: Showed a bit of fight in the fresh up effort for third. Should be fitter for it and will land on the speed so has to be a chance.
7 Dark Rage: In a bad mood last week, but is a whole lot better than that. Prior form was excellent so don’t disregard.
2 Mainland Reactor: Good draw to jump and run tonight, which makes him dangerous. Average last week, but better than that.
Selections: 10-5-7-2
Race 4
1 Katamach: Got the supporters home first up for Matt Purvis at Rangiora on Sunday. On the back up but has the perfect draw to use so should be right in amongst it again.
10 Tall Poppy: Gets to throw out the tow rope and hope Katamach takes her close to the lane. Can fill a placing with a nice trip.
4 Doctor Tim: Loves to run a place, especially in races like this. Has to be rewarded with a win soon, surely.
7 Paduka: Blair Orange got him home last time with a great drive. This is harder, but should be able to handle the rise in grade.
Selections: 1-10-4-7
Race 5
13 One Over Da Stars: Cross your fingers, toes, eyes and ears and hope for a complete performance. Trots the entire and wins - nice and simple.
4 Cheerful: Blew it behind the gate fresh up but too good to drop on that indiscretion. Handy enough draw to try and run them off their feet here.
2 Sugar Cane: No vices with her. She’ll ping off the gate, grab a nice spot and should be there when they turn for home and offer up good place value once again.
5 One Over Da Skye: Stablemate of #13 and while not quite as talent, there’s a motor there too. Probably a safer option.
Selections: 13-4-2-5
Race 6
6 Kendra: Class filly resuming here. Was brilliant in a recent Methven workout and looks very hard to beat even in fresh state tonight.
1 Anamajor: No forlorn hope in this is she can ping away from the inside draw and land herself in a handy position. Has to be given a big hope of success.
7 Stately: Looked to run out of room at the wrong time last week. Not a bad race for her and can try and bully them.
4 Magical Mellissa: Workout and trial form is really good and has shown a clean pair of heels at the start which will be key tonight.
Selections: 6-1-7-4
Race 7
4 Majestic Hurricane: Manners, they are the key. If he trots the entire he has to be hard to beat, but he is a risky proposition at the moment.
12 Ronald J: Too poor to be true last week, he’s better than that though. Another chance needs to be given tonight.
9 BD Khaosan: Ticking along nicely and this looks a suitable race provided he can get in front of a few key rivals.
11 Sundon’s Flyer: Should eat up the 40metre handicap pretty quickly and be up with the front markers soon after the start which brings him right into contention.
Selections: 4-12-9-11
Race 8
7 Nandolo: Big robust pacer who should relish this assignment. Can make his own luck and really put his rivals to the sword here.
9 Pats Dragon: Fast pacer who third up tonight shouldn’t be too far away from the action. Can sit off them and really drive late which will put him right into contention.
6 Enchantee: Ticking along really nicely at the moment and has a strong stand start record which should put him in the right spot to fill a placing.
1 Flamboyant: Going great guns and was too good for them at Rangiora on Sunday, this is harder but has to be a good chance again.
Selections: 7-9-6-1
Race 9
7 Tango Tara: Opened the career with a really strong effort last week. Beaten by a pretty smart one too so should find this a wee bit easier.
4 Bettor Getta Lover: Hit the line strongly last week. Probably still shouldn’t be a maiden but gets a good chance to shake the tag tonight.
6 Koromiko Eyre: Not quite as well served by the draw here as last week, but still a live chance in this line up with any luck.
2 Glenthorne: Has made a good productive start to the career with two second and a fourth. Good draw tonight so has to be given a chance again.
Selections: 7-4-6-2
Race 10
9 Jazzy Star: Great run first up behind a smart one. Should be better for it and even from tonight’s wide draw he has to be a strong contender to win tonight.
8 First Classy Lady: She’s a reliable mare who gives 110 per cent every time she steps out on the track. Should enjoy this challenge tonight and can run at them late.
6 Direct Control: Lovely trial run for second recently. Fresh up tonight so will improve, with run under the belt, but can still win this assignment.
11 Sails: Doesn’t mind doing a bit of work and should enjoy tonight’s assignment with a hot speed looking likely. A knockout chance for a place.
BEST: 6 Kendra (Race 6)
NEXT: 7 Tango Tara (Race 9)
VALUE: 1 Zeddie Marrit (Race 2)
