Jilliby at the Jewels?

CONNECTIONS of Miracle Mile runner-up Jilliby Kung Fu are looking seriously at a Harness Jewels raid.

And, if they go across to NZ, it’s likely to start with tilts at the Taylor Mile and Messenger.

“We still soaking up the excitement of hiss Miracle Mile run, but we have to start making plans over the next week or so,” trainer Marg Lee said.

“I’m keen to know more about the Jewels. It sounds a good option, especially with those other big four-year-old races over there, too.

“He’s still early in his preparation. Still on the up.

“He came through that run incredibly well.”

An NZ trip would be an inspired moved given the two top-rated Kiwi four-year-olds, Vincent and Ultimate Machete, are sidelined.

Jilliby Kung Fu has been a revelation this campaign with Group 1 wins in the 4YO Bonanza, Chariots Of Fire and last night’s close second to My Field Marshal in the Miracle Mile.

“He’s thriving on the hard racing. We’d be reluctant to give him a break now,” Lee said.

“We were so proud of him last night. If he’d had a cosy run and just kept-up, we’d have been thrilled. But he almost won it and he’s still getting better.”

Other upcoming home state options for the young Victorian star are the Kilmore Cup and 4&5YO Championship at Melton.
