Defending champion Dexter Dunn sits on seven after his late start to the season, steering home four winners at the weekend, including Hannon Memorial winner Titan Banner at Oamaru, who he will drive in the $800,000 NZ Cup at Addington on November 14.

Galactic Star eyes cup

Former Kiwi pacer Galactic Star is chasing the $A200,000 Victoria Cup in Melbourne on October 14 for driver Luke McCarthy after winning again at Menangle.

Galactic Star (19 wins) won narrowly but well on Saturday after sitting parked in a 1:55.9 mile rate for the 2300m mobile.

The five-year-old son of Bettor’s Delight was bought from New Zealand by Greg and Skye Bond to race in Western Australia (13 wins) and is now trained by Craig Cross in NSW.

He won four races in Southland for Kiwi trainer Des Baynes.
