Natalie has been in the Education & Training department for the past 10 years, and has taken over the position as Education & Training Manager for the past 6 years. Prior to working for HRNZ Natalie completed a New Zealand Diploma in Business at Christchurch College of Education. She then went on to help establish and manage the Garrard’s Horse & Hound store at Addington Raceway. Natalie worked in this role for over seven years servicing the three racing codes - Harness, Galloping and Greyhounds. The role enabled her to become familiar with the people and products in the whole racing industry.

Natalie has been involved in the Harness Industry for a big part of her life, starting out with working holiday jobs for trainers and yearling preparers. In 2003 she gained a National Certificate in Equine (Harness Racing) – Level 4.  In partnership with her husband Jamie they run Dunvegan Lodge Yearling Preparation. Jamie also runs a full time business as a harness trainer, training and racing a number of horses of which Natalie assists with. They also own and breed a number of standardbreds as well as having owned several Thoroughbred racehorses.

Natalie’s background in the equine industry (she is also an equestrian) ensures she has the experience and knowledge to tutor our harness trainees so they can follow their career paths in their chosen industry.
