Stable to Stirrup

Harness Racing New Zealand supports The Standardbred Recycling & Rehoming Canterbury Charitable Trust - also known as "Stable to Stirrup" which has been established to facilitate the transition of standardbred horses to their life after racing.

The main objectives of the Trust are to maintain the welfare of the horse, provide financial support for re-homers and educate new owners on ownership of their horse.

The Trust is a registered charity with the Charities Commission of NZ and is working with Harness Racing New Zealand where possible to facilitate the transition of these horses to their life after racing.

The Trust is recruiting a part-time Administration & Operations Co-Ordinator.  This role is key in managing the logistics of transitioning the horses from their current trainers, owners and stable life to their new owners and ridden life after racing. Ideally based in Canterbury with some industry knowledge. There will be no requirement to handle horses for this role.  Applications close on Friday 7th February 2020.

The Trust also have a number of other paid roles available for professional equine welfare practitioners such as farriers, dentists, independent trainers, re-homers as well as riders to exercise the horses. These roles are open permanently and will be contracted on an as-required basis.

There are also a number of volunteer roles available.
