South Island Dates Shuffle leading into Easter

A relinquished race date by the NZ Metropolitan Trotting Club has led to additional changes to the racing programme for the week starting 29 March that leads into Easter.

Addington was scheduled for dates on the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of that week. Along with that, the Crusaders are playing in the adjacent stadium on Good Friday. Owing to need to prepare the venue for rugby hospitality and the feature race meeting on Easter Saturday, the club relinquished its Thursday date. This left The Met having dates on Tuesday and Saturday.

To ensure the best flow of race meetings and to maximise industry returns, other dates from that week have changed. The Wyndham HRC meeting scheduled for Wednesday 31 March, featuring the Kindergarten Stakes, will now be run on Thursday 1 April. The change will allow Addington's Tuesday twilight meeting to slide across to Wednesday.

These changes should also provide a positive spinoff for the Manawatu HRC, which is holding a two-day meeting on the Tuesday and Thursday of that week.

Owing to the change in dates the Programme for NZ Metropolitan TC for 31 March will be uploaded in the coming days.
