Muscle Mountain too good in South Bay Trotters Cup
Muscle Mountain has won this afternoon’s Majestic Son South Bay Trotters Cup at Addington.
The Group Three feature over 2600 metres was billed as a match race between Muscle Mountain and Sundees Son, the two favourites for the Dominion on Show Day.
Ben Hope had Muscle Mountain parked before taking the lead with just over 1600 metres to go and then proved too strong for a fast finishing Mataderos, who had been in the trial, and Sundees Son.
Sundees Son had no excuses after securing the one-one but couldn’t make any ground on Muscle Mountain, who has won his last two following his victory at Ashburton on Labour Monday.
In the latest market the TAB has Muscle Mountain as a $2.25 favourite to win the Renwick Farms Dominion on Show Day, with Sundees Son now at $2.40.
