Five for Ottley at Reefton
Canterbury based driver Samantha Ottley made it a quintuple of driving successes at the Reefton meeting on Sunday.
Though this achievement was not the first time Ottley accomplished this.
“One other time at Timary I was lucky enough to do it!
“It’s a huge thrill. You hope you can have days like that, but to actually do it is something else.
That was Phar Lap raceway, January 5th 2018. On that occasion Ottley drove Show Gait, Maninthemirror, Stellar Success, Mr Midnight and Castlereagh to success.
“Manners were key to some of them. Most of them were up handy which helps at Reefton.”
Included in Ottley’s wins was a hatrick for employer Mark Jones.
“It’s always pleasing to be able to reward him for putting me on the team. He’s my main supporter and always backs me. And also all the owners are very loyal and it's great to win races for them.”
One win that impressed Ottley was that of trotter Real Moonshine. The 3 year old Volstead filly came from the back of the field to win in the shadows of the post. Something that is incredibly hard to do at Reefton.
“She came from last on the bend. She was really really good.”
The Team Teal campaign also benefited well with Ottley’s successes. The campaign wraps up on the 15th of March at Auckland.
Other highlights of the circuit were a double for Sods Law and Smart I Am while Boys Invasion secured the Seddon Summer trotters series bonus.
