Eligibility amendment to 2YO Bonus SchemeĀ
HRNZ received a request under the Terms and Conditions of the 2025 Entain 2YO Bonus Scheme to consider the case of the NZ-bred filly Ripples. Ripples has returned to NZ to race on Friday night and beyond in the name of Emma Stewart.
Ripples was sent to Australia by Mark Jones to race in the Gold Tiara, which she won at the end of March. It was always intended to bring her back to NZ.
HRNZ has used its discretion to amend the T&Cs to extend eligibility to NZ bred 2YOs that travel to Australia and who are trained by either an Australian or NZ trainer. Restricting the scheme to 2YOs that spend their entire season in NZ and requiring them to be trained by a NZ trainer was too restrictive. NZ-bred horses returning to this country are very welcome.
