A - Z New Zealand Cup : Q
There are 10 days to the New Zealand Cup
From now to November 10 we will feature some of the great races, horses and personalities with a new letter for each day.
Q = Quinella
The first ever stable quinella in the New Zealand Cup came in 2002 when Gracious Knight and Facta Non Verba finished 1-2.
Facta Non Verba, driven by Robbie Holmes, was two lengths clear on the corner, only to be rundown by Gracious Knight (Todd Mitchell).
They were trained by Warren Rich and Mike Berger, who trained together from 2000 to 2003, with 109 winners from 1209 starts.
Both horses were sired by former champion juvenile Tuapeka Knight.
Favourite Young Rufus was sixth, followed by 2000 champion Yulestar.
