STIPENDIARY STEWARDS:   N G McIntyre, K R Williams, S P Renault

RACE 1: BROSNAN TRANSPORT PASSING LANE HANDICAP TROT
Advertised start time:     11.25am               Actual start time: 11.26.12am
Stewards advised mudguards and wet weather dustsheets were to be worn.  Over the early stages TUINFRO, NATIVE'S BRITE SPARK, BOHEMIAN, SUNBRITE and BETTY CUTHBERT broke.  Racing into the first bend SPEED N SUCCESS hung in and struck pylons.  After 300m FAMILY PHOTO broke when leading while shortly after BOHEMIAN again broke losing all chance. TUINFRO raced greenly on several occasions. Rounding the final bend SPEED N SUCCESS broke when hanging, while shortly after FAMILY PHOTO and EARL HARBOUR broke. A warning was placed against the standing start manners of BETTY CUTHBERT. NATIVE'S BRITE SPARK was declared unruly for future standing start events at the trainer's request.

RACE 2: NORTHTOWN NUTRITION MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time:    11.55am                Actual start time: 11.55.29am
Rounding the final bend IN DEFAULT (G D Smith), when leading, started to tire, shifting out and inconveniencing PURE VISION momentarily with CRUZ CONTROL and JAYEE'S MAGIC brushing pylons shortly after.  Driver G D Smith was shown the film and advised he must exercise more care in the future.  MARLON was held up in the initial stages of the run home. THE BALLADEER (favourite) raced midfield on the outer, improved to sit parked nearing the 1100m, finishing in 4th place. M P Jones the driver of   POTENTIALLY PERFECT was questioned with regard to the mare's performance. Mr Jones advised that POTENTIALLY PERFECT had felt flat throughout. A Veterinary Inspection revealed the mare to have a swollen off fore fetlock with the connections advised a clearance would be required before resuming. Driver BA Rennie (RURIK) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) (a) excessive use of the whip being fined $200 by the JCA.  An enquiry was open and adjourned into the gear worn on THE BALLADEER.

RACE 3: NORFOLK MOTORS MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time:    12.25pm                Actual start time: 12.27.44pm
A false start was declared when MIGHTHAVEAFIGHT broke on two occasions checking the second line runners.  MIGHTHAVEAFIGHT was sent to the outside of the mobile for the restart with the connections being warned to improve the gelding's mobile manners. Leaving the 1500m PANESAR hung in and locked wheels with GRADUATION.  Rounding the final bend CULLEN SPEED when tiring locked wheels with GRADUATION. An enquiry was open and adjourned into the manner in which KG Coutts (BELLA'S LAD) drove over the final stages.

RACE 4: PORT FM PACE
Advertised start time:    12.55pm                Actual start time: 12.55.30pm
Permission was granted for M P Jones to drive D'AMORE'S FIRST.  The track was downgraded to slushy after continuing rain.  DANCE BAND and CLIFTON FLIER tangled over the early stages.  Nearing the 1700m D'AMORE'S FIRST broke when sitting parked.  COURAGEOUS BOY tired with 600m to run after racing back on the inner. A subsequent Veterinary Inspection of the gelding revealed a slow recovery rate with blood tests taken; co-trainer TS Chmiel advised he will inform Stewards of the results.  CLIFTON FLIER (favourite) raced at the rear of the field, improved three wide with cover passing the 1200m, tiring rounding the final bend finishing in a distant 13th place.  After the race Trainer/Driver P G O'Reilly advised the filly was showing the early signs of a respiratory complaint and that he would have tests taken in the coming days and notify Stewards of the findings.

RACE 5: THE CENTRAL STOCKFEED COMPANY MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time:    1.25pm                Actual start time: 1.28.34pm
A false start was declared when JOHNNY HOOFBEATS broke checking FRANCO TRANSIT with JOHNNY HOOFBEATS being sent to the outside for the restart with the connections being warned to improve the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Shortly after the start MISS DORIE broke settling four back on the inner. In the run home FIERY TART (R T May) shifted inside a pylon when racing on the inside of BELLE VISTA. When questioned with regard to the incident driver RT May advised the mare had raced greenly when the removable earplugs had been activated. The 5th placing of FIERY TART was withheld until it was confirmed the mare had not shifted inside the pylons in excess of 30m.  Trainers S P Walkinshaw and J D Ramsay were reminded of their obligations to affix mudguards.

RACE 6: EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES HANDICAP TROT
Advertised start time:    1.55pm                Actual start time: 1.55.47pm
Permission was granted for the trainer's colours to be used on TEHORO DIVA.  SOUTHERN SALLY broke over the early stages failing to settle being retired from the event.  After approx 100m NOWUNO broke settling at the rear of the field.  Rounding the final bend WILLIAM TELL broke with CARAMEL CENTRE breaking shortly after.  TULLYLISH trotted roughly throughout the run home finishing 2nd with driver M J Williamson advising he could not activate the removable ear plugs due to the gelding trotting roughly.  Trainer J R Withell admitted a breach of Rule 865(4) in that he failed to advise ANOTHER ROUND would race without a Pacifier and was fined $100 by the JCA.

RACE 7: RON BROWN JEWELLERS PACE
Advertised start time:    2.31pm               Actual start time: 2.31.11pm
TAIERI WINGS, ALL NIGHT FANTASY and SARY HANOVER broke over the early stages while REBEL SKIPPER broke and ran out checking MCDANA, RURAL JACK and BANYULA FELLA with the connections of REBEL SKIPPER being warned to improve the gelding's standing start barrier manners.

RACE 8: COUPLAND'S BAKERIES WINTER CUP HANDICAP PACE
Advertised start time:    3.06pm                Actual start time: 3.06.10pm
Trainer M Larter (LIVING BLUE BOY) was charged a $25 colour fee. ARDEN'S DARLIN broke over the early stages while FIGO was slow.

RACE 9: TAS ANSWERING SERVICES MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time:    3.41pm                Actual start time: 3.41.26pm
BLACK MAMBO was a late scratching at 5.55pm on the 15th of May with an enquiry being open and adjourned.  Trainer J F Parsons agent K Parsons admitted failing to notify a driver by the prescribed time for LIGHT SHOWERS and was fined $50 by the JCA.  An investigation was held into the gear worn on FERNLEIGH RENEGADE (D & C Butt) with this enquiry being open and adjourned. BLACKLEUGH over-raced when racing three back on the inner with this gelding being held up for clear racing room in the run home.  LACHLAN JACK was denied clear room until late the run home finishing in 3rd place while IREBY BAZIL BRUSH failed to gain clear racing room in the run home with driver C I Hunter advising she had not activated the removable earplugs.

RACE 10: LION BEVERAGES MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time:    4.15pm                Actual start time: 4.15.31pm
A Veterinary Certificate of Clearance was received for THE MERCENARY. ARNOUX over-raced shortly after the start and again when improving to lead in the middle stages.  GOODWIN'S BLUEAGLE was held up for racing room early in the run home and paced roughly when racing on the back of THE MERCENARY.  JULIA'S CULLEN was also held up for clear racing room early in the run home.  THE MERCENARY (J R Bennett) broke when tiring with 250m to run when racing in confined quarters between RED BARON (J R Dunn) and LIFE AND SOUL (M P Jones). PARTYBOYSIMON paced roughly over the final stages before breaking after the finishing line with a subsequent Veterinary Inspection revealing no abnormalities. Authorisation of second place being awarded to RED BARON was withheld until driver J R Bennett confirmed that THE MERCENARY broke free of interference in the run home.

SWABBING:  TEHORA GRACE - RD Holmes, RURIK - CB Coutts, GUERNICA - BG Buchanan, BELLA VISTA - SP Walkinshaw, GIMLI - NR McGrath, LADY SHAMROCK - G Prendergast, ONEDIN CRUSADER - JC Hay.
