RACE 1: BRYLIN BOYZ MOBILE TROT.
Advertised start time: 6.02pm Actual start time: 6.06.34pm
A false start was declared when several runners on the front line broke and others were out of position. The formation stayed the same for the restart due to Stewards and Starter being unable to place the blame onto any one horse. In the restart KELLY EVANDER broke in the score up losing its chance. The connections were warned to improve the mobile start manners of their mare. SON DUN DON broke over the early stages with LUCY HEST breaking when taking evasive action to avoid the breaking SUN DUN DON. URAMAO broke leaving the 1900m and again nearing the 1200m.Rounding the final bend HEATHER CASTLETON broke with the trailing GOLD REPLY having to be restrained. DEALORNODEAL broke when leading in the run home with MAPLE TWIST (MJ Prendergast) taking evasive late to avoid the breaking DEALORNODEAL which was being restrained. Driver M J Prendergast was shown the video and warned for the manner in which he drove over the concluding stages. N P Williamson advised ALYAK NOVA had trotted roughly rounding the final bend. The Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded to HEATHER CASTLETON pursuant to rule 869(8)(b) alleging that with 250m to run HEATHER CASTLETON (AL Clark) broke checking GOLD REPLY (MJ Williamson) which lost its momentum. After viewing the film and hearing the evidence from MJ Williamson and AL Clark the protest was upheld and HEATHER CASTLETON was relegated to 7th placing. S J Reid when questioned with regard to the breaking of DEALORNODEAL over the concluding stages could offer no tangible reason.
RACE 2: WASHINGTON VC FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE.

JULIAS SONG underwent a Veterinary examination prior to the start and was cleared to run. The start of this event was delayed 2 minutes due to the inquiry in the previous race. BYE BYE SIR, WAIHEMO CAESAR, RED RIVER LADY and BUTTONS AND BOWS were all slow over the early stages. OUR ENGLISH ROSE and VIVACIOUS KYRA both over raced during the running. RED RIVER LADY hung in and struck markers with 1200m to run. TALLULAH BELLE was held up in the middle stages of the run home. Driver C D Thornley dropped his leg from the sulky footrest momentarily in the run home. Just short of the winning post BYE BYE SIR hung in with VIVACIOUS KYRA having to be restrained.
RACE 3: VET EQUINE CLAIMERS SERIES PACE.

At the start TARTAN ART and RIVERIA FRANCO broke. Rounding the final bend MANCHESTER TOM and EPOCH both brushed markers. Authorisation of 2nd and 3rd placing's were withheld until Stewards were satisfied MANCHESTER TOM and EPOCH had not protruded inside the marker line in excess of 30 metres rounding the final bend. The favourite RIVERIA FRANCO (CD Thornley) broke at the start settling back in the field, improved three wide with cover from 1000m and failed to run on finishing in 12th place. CD Thornley when questioned with regard to the filly's performance was surprised that RIVERIA FRANCO was favourite however advised he was disappointed with the filly's efforts despite breaking early. MJ Williamson advised EPOCH had hung on several occasions.
RACE 4: SIGNPRINT MOBILE PACE.

NAENAE TABMAN hung and paced roughly over the early stages when attempting to establish its racing position. Nearing the 1700m AVEROSS BLAZE broke, breaking again when hanging passing the 1100m, a warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. CHURCHILL BROMAC hung and paced roughly rounding the final bend while trailing the leader. AM Armour advised CHURCHILL BROMAC was hitting the wheel discs.
RACE 5: PLAY GOLF AT BALMACEWEN MOBILE PACE.

At the start the figure eight and the removable hood were removed from STORM LIGHT. In the run home BAD MAN RISING(AW Kyle) the lead horse shifted in, simultaneously to the trailing BAD AVEROSS (NP Williamson) hanging out. The Stewards lodged a protest against the 1st place being awarded to BAD MAN RISING pursuant to Rule 869(8)(b) and Home Straight Regulations, after hearing from driver N P Williamson .After hearing the evidence from AW Kyle, NP Williamson, AW Faulks and RE Pettit the JCA dismissed the protest An investigation was held into a possible breach of the push out rule with 1700m to run when IMA ICON shifted ground outwards onto JUPITER GROVE (CJ Barron). After hearing from driver CJ Barron no further action was warranted. Favourite STORM LIGHT (DJ Dunn) raced back on the outer and was denied clear room in the run home. Stewards opened and adjourned an investigation into the driving tactics adopted by Mr Dunn during the running.
RACE 6: OTAGO DAILY TIMES DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP TROT.

Trainers RC Beale (SO GREEN) and KG Coutts (DARBY DOLL) both admitted contravening Rule 865(2) in that they were late in notifying gear on their respective horses and were both fined $50 by the JCA. The start of this race was delayed by 2 minutes due to the inquiry in the previous race. As the start was effected AYLESHAM refused to go and then swung round checking RHYTHMIC SUN . SO GREEN broke over the early stages and then paced shortly after losing its chance. FLYINGBOYZ broke passing the 900m .Over the concluding stages TORSHANT broke briefly. Authorisation of all placing were withheld until the Stewards were satisfied TORSHANT had complied with the breaking horse regulations over the final stages and that RHYTHMIC SUN had received a fair start. Nearing the 500m a hind bandage on AUTO FIRE broke. The Stewards inspected the gear and it was found to be in satisfactory condition.
RACE 7: GARRARDS SIRES STAKES MOBILE PACE HEAT 1.

CHARGE FORWARD paced roughly over the early stages. CHARGE FORWARD and FRANCO LORDSHIP both brushed markers rounding the final bend. With 200m to run BON JOVI broke when racing at the back of the field. ARDEN TETRICK and LE SOL momentarily locked wheels in the run home. With 20m to run CHARGE FORWARD attempted to jump a mark on the track.
RACE 8: DUNEDIN CASINO DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP PACE.

Trainer B R Negus admitted contravening rule 502(1) in that he failed to submit a Trainer Notification Form for LITTLE JOE by the required time being fined $100 by the JCA. As the start was effected FALCONS COURAGE broke, shifted in and checked SHAMROCKS. Also at the start LITTLE JOE and CAMSPLACE DEXTER broke with LITTLE JOE losing all chance. In the run home HI GUN (DJ Dunn) hung inwards locking wheels briefly with ROSES IN MAY (MJ Williamson). M J Williamson advised his chances were not affected and that ROSES IN MAY had hang out slightly.
RACE 9: VITAL STOCK FOODS PACE.

As the start was effected MOTU POCKET O' JEWELS and NORA THE PIANIST broke. RED RIVER ROAD over raced when trailing.
RACE 10: FORBURY SPORTS BAR MOBILE PACE.

Driver KN Larsen dropped his foot momentarily nearing the 2300m. LEVI LOWE was held up by the tiring STERLING LUSTRE rounding the final bend. The favourite HAVE A CIGAR improved to race outside the leader passing the 2000m and then over raced finishing in 7th place.
