General:
A doctor's certificate was received confirming that Junior Horseman Simon Lawson was medically fit to drive following a race day incident on Tuesday 2nd March 2010.
RACE 1 - WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 6.25 p.m. Actual start time: 6.25.30 p.m.
Horseman M. McKendry advised that CC STAR pulled a flat tyre from inside the last 1100m and the tyre came adrift off the rim in the run home. Junior Horseman J. Dickie was shown the film of his drive on MIYSIS. At the point where CC STAR's sulky wheel was struck by MIYSIS, Mr McKendry had taken hold of his horse as there was a sudden easing of the pace and MIYSIS grabbed hold of the bit and over-raced when ATTENTION SEEKER improved up outside of MIYSIS at the same time. Favourite A LEGEND (D. Dunn) settled three back and one out, improved three wide without cover inside the 400m, failed to run on finishing 8th. Horseman D. Dunn was questioned in regard to the favourite's performance and advised that A LEGEND had received a good trip, improved three wide without cover at the four hundred and battled in the run home. He stated that he was disappointed with this horse's run.

MAKAREWA SUN (K. Barron) broke racing into the first turn settling at the rear.
RACE 4 - SWISS DELI MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 7.55 p.m. Actual start time: 7.55.33 p.m.
Favourite SCOTTY MACH (M. Purdon) settled one out without cover, improved to lead at the 1500m, weakened entering the home straight, finishing 10th. The club's veterinary surgeon examined SCOTTY MACH and found nothing amiss and Trainer/Driver M. Purdon advised that he was disappointed with its run.
RACE 5 - PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALE GRADUATE MBL PACE
Advertised start time: 8.20 p.m. Actual start time: 8.20.36 p.m.
MATT MAGUIRE (D. Dunn) and THE COTTON CLUB (M. McKendry) broke free of interference with the latter losing its chance racing into the first turn. Trainer K. Barron was warned to improve THE COTTON CLUB'S racing manners. Trainer C. Dalgety was advised that MATT MAGUIRE has been declared ineligible for 14 days up to and including 19th March 2010. Trainer C. Dalgety advised that MATT MAGUIRE would be gelded and turned out for a spell. An information was lodged alleging a breach of Rule 865(4) in that trainer C. Dalgety presented MATT MAGUIRE in the assembly area to race with a pacifier which was not notified. The breach was admitted and the J.C.A. imposed a fine of $100.00.
RACE 6 - WOODLANDS STUD NORTHERN DERBY HEAT 1

RACE 7 - PASCOES THE JEWELLERS NORTHERN OAKS
Advertised start time: 9.20 p.m. Actual start time: 9.20.19 p.m.
TOUCH OF ROSE ducked out momentarily at the start checking MEREDITH MAGUIRE, this horse settling at the rear. An information was lodged alleging a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that Junior Horseman Z. Butcher drove INDULGE carelessly moving inwards causing interference to ANVIL ON FIRE (A. Butt) approximately 150m after the start. ANVIL ON FIRE broke as a result losing approximately 10 lengths and settled at the rear. The breach was admitted and the J.C.A. imposed a fine of $400.00.
RACE 8 - WOODLANDS STUD NORTHERN DERBY HEAT
Advertised start time: 9.50 p.m. Actual start time: 9.50.17 p.m.
Horseman J. Abernethy advised he did not activate the removable earhood on HENRIK ZETTERBERG when he failed to get clear racing room in the run home finishing 8th.
RACE 9 - THE NEW ZEALAND HERALD CITY OF AUCKLAND FFA
Advertised start time: 10.20 p.m. Actual start time: 10.20.26 p.m.
Favourite TINTIN IN AMERICA (D. Butcher) settled at the rear, raced three back and one out inside the 1500m, improved three wide at the 350 and ran on for 4th. The authorisation of the first placing was withheld until such time as it was established that horseman S. Phelan driving BIG DOG had not interfered with BETTOR'S STRIKE (D. Dunn) approximately 150m after the start. BETTOR'S STRIKE galloped and was restrained to the rear. An information was lodged and adjourned alleging a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that Junior Horseman D. Dunn drove BETTOR'S STRIKE carelessly causing his own horse to break. This adjourned inquiry will be heard on Friday 12th March 2010 at Alexandra Park Raceway.
RACE 10 - PASCOES THE JEWELLERS HANDCIAP TROT
Advertised start time: 10.50 p.m. Actual start time: 10.54.00 p.m.
A false start was declared when DON GIOVANNI was facing the wrong way when the barrier strands were released. Horses to break shortly after the start or during the running were BRITE AUTUMN, DUCHENNE and TITIAN SUN. Trainer W. Thomas advised that TITIAN SUN would be turned out for a spell.
Trainer D. Gibbons was warned to improve BRITE AUTUMN'S racing manners.
