RACE 1 - KUMEU 2YO MOBILE TROT
Advertised start time: 12.20p.m. Actual start time: 12.20.33p.m.
Horse to make mistakes over the early stages were STILLGOTHEMAGIC, SAPPHIRE CASTLETON, and WHEELER, CONNIE GOODIN and THE SCRUFF broke over the latter stages. The authorisation of the payment of the second dividend for SAPPHIRE CASTLETON was withheld until such time that it was confirmed that this horse was not in breach of the Breaking Horse Regulations. The favourite SAPPHIRE CASTLETON galloped for approximately 120 metres shortly after the start losing considerable ground, recovered and put in a big run to finish a courageous second. STILLGOTHEMAGIC was declared unruly for mobile starts. An information was lodged against trainer W Taylor for presenting SAPPHIRE CASTLETON into the assembly area with a pacifier which had not been notified. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $100.00
RACE 2 - INTER DOMINION PONY TROT MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 12.45p.m. Actual start time: 12.47.45p.m.
An information was lodged against D Gale the trainer of MCCHAPEL for presenting this horse to race in an open bridle instead of half blinds which was not notified. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $100.00. A false start was declared when ROYAL PHOENIX faltered just prior to the start causing a check to LOMA FAY. ROYAL PHOENIX was sent to the outside of the front line for the restart. GWYNFROMEARTOEAR paced roughly then stumbled causing severe interference to the trailing runners with 400m to run. ROYAL PHOENIX (S.Lawson), PASCAL'S LAW (A.Herlihy), FOREVER FAITHFUL(A.Pyers) all fell dislodging their horsemen and MILLVIEW RACHAL was checked. Trainer M Berger was advised that GWYNFROMEARTOEAR has been declared ineligible for 14 days up to and including 16 March 2010. Trainer R Stechmann was warned to improve KATHLEEN TURNER'S racing manners, this horse broke free of interference with 300m to run. Trainer J Coppins was warned to improve the mobile barrier manners of ROYAL PHOENIX. Following this event S Lawson the driver of ROYAL PHOENIX was taken to hospital for further observation. The favourite CULLENS WISH(B Mangos) lead then gave ground inside the last 500m. Trainer B Mangos advised that this horse had choked after the false start and this had affected the horse's performance finishing 8th.
RACE 3 - KTC COMMUNITY SUPPORT MOBILE PACE

An information was lodged alleging that Trainer P Blanchard presented TAFFETA BROMAC into the assembly area without half blinds. This change of gear had not been notified. P Blanchard admitted the charge and the JCA imposed a fine of $100.00. There was a delay to the start as FIREWORKS required some damaged gear to be repaired. ROCKET KING(S.Hunt) pulled fiercely and was almost uncontrollable. Trainer S Hunt was advised that this has been declared ineligible up to and including 16 March 2010.
RACE 4 - THE TRUSTS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 1.35p.m. Actual start time: 1.37.40p.m.
A false start was declared when UP N OFF failed to maintain its mobile barrier position disrupting the second line. For the re-run the starter sent UP N OFF to the outside of the front line. Trainer B Mangos advised that he is turning out UP N OFF for a spell. Trainer S Hunt was warned to improve the racing manners of PERUVIAN VANCE. PERUVIAN VANCE broke free of interference veering out and checking BEAU STARLIGHT with 800 metres to run. An information was lodged against Trainer S Hunt for presenting PERUVIAN VANCE into the assembly area without half blinds. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $100.00. The required veterinary certificate of fitness was supplied for PERUVIAN VANCE.
RACE 5 - KTC AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 2.00p.m. Actual start time: 2.00.42p.m.
There was an approved late change of driver from B Marshall to L Donald for MAD TIM. J Brownlee the horseman of BARNABUS advised that his horse was hanging in the run up and therefore was approximately 2 lengths out of position at the start. Amateur Horsemen T Wenn (LIVE OR DANA) and G Cook (VILLAGE SARTI) were both spoken to advisedly in regard to their drives over the initial stages of the race, they were both caught three wide and persisted to improve their horses when the field was travelling at a fast pace ( a lead in time of 42.3 seconds). A McCollum the horseman of (UNSOLVED) was reprimanded and advised that he is required to demonstrate a higher standard of horsemanship in particular when driving in the lead setting the pace. The favourite RICO GEAR (J Kriechbaumer) sat parked throughout this event and fought on bravely for fourth.
RACE 6 - THE SIGN SERVICE GROUP HANDICAP TROT
Advertised start time: 2.25p.m. Actual start time: 2.26.11p.m.
An information was lodged against trainer P Blanchard for presenting DON CHIOLA in the assembly area without half blinds. This change of gear had not been notified. P Blanchard admitted the charge and the JCA imposed a fine of $100.00. Horses to make mistakes were SPRINGFIELD NOVA, BOYS R BEST, LILLY'S MOMENT, ZUTANO, LAST SUNRISE and HOT HOLIDAY. ALL MUSCLES was observed to trot badly throughout the race. The Club's vet advised this horse was lame in the near front leg. A veterinary certificate is required for ALL MUSCLES before it resumes. SPRINGFIELD NOVA and ZUTANO were declared unruly for standing starts. The connections of BOYS R BEST and LAST SUNRISE were warned to improve their standing start manners.
RACE 7 - NZ TROTTING HALL OF FAME MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 2.50p.m. Actual start time: 2.50.58p.m.
Junior Horseman J Noakes accompanied by senior Horseman A Herlihy was reprimanded for the manner he drove VALHALLA racing into the first bend cramping runners racing on his inside. BAILEYS SPIRIT settled four back one out improved three wide with cover from the 700m mark battled in the run home to finish 8th.
RACE 8 - GIRLS NIGHT OUT FRIDAY MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 3.15p.m. Actual start time: 3.15.57p.m.
WEE WILLAM was claimed from this event. An information was lodged against trainer J Stormont for presenting RUGBRACIN N BEER into the assembly area without full blinds. This change of gear had not been notified. J Stormont admitted the charge and the JCA imposed a fine of $100.00. An information was lodged against Trainer D Gale for failing to ensure the proper saddle cloth was attached to BIGPROUDANDREADY prior to the horse parading in the assembly area. The charge was admitted and the JCA fined D Gale the sum of $150.00.
RACE 9 - CUP AND DERBY BARRIER DRAW SUNDAY MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 3.40p.m. Actual start time: 3.40.49p.m.
DAKOTA KID broke free of interference with approximately 300 metres to run. Trainer N Chilcott was advised to improve this horse's racing manners. A protest was lodged then dismissed by the JCA against the third placing alleging ROYAL TIGER (J.Stormont) caused interference to BY THE STARS (P.Butcher) with 50m to run. The favourite TURISMO (T.Macfarlane) settled four deep on the running line and was unable to get clear racing room finishing 8th.
