NON TOTE: PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES CONSOLATION
SHE'S MADONNA had a tendency to hang during the running striking a number of pylons with approx 500m to run with the filly again continuing to hang in the run home.

RACE 1: PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 12.05pm            Actual start time: 12.05.22pm
VAN WASHING MAN paced roughly shortly after the start. Rounding the final bend SHIRAE MORN broke then ran out and struck the front legs of ARTOIS resulting in this gelding falling. The connections of SHIRAE MORN were warned to improve their gelding's racing manners. ARTOIS was inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon with this gelding suffering no significant injuries as a result of his fall. Driver R J Butt was cleared to drive for later races in the programme.

RACE 2: UNITED FISHERIES LTD MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 12.35pm            Actual start time: 12.36.06pm
Shortly after the start RAKAREBEL broke settling at the rear of the field with the connections being warned to improve the gelding's mobile barrier manners. SLASH AN BURN struck a number of pylons rounding the final bend when racing four back on the inner.

RACE 3: EAR HEALTH CANTERBURY - A COMPLETE SERVICE HANDICAP TROT
Advertised start time: 1.05pm                Actual start time: 1.05.26pm
VATUVEI broke briefly over the early stages while RHYTHMIC SUN broke over the early stages and again in the run home while VATUVEI struck a number of pylons with approx 1500m to run. THE MOMENT and BERKSHIRE SON were denied clear racing room over the concluding stages. WAIHEMO JORDAN and SUNRAYA were cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.

RACE 4: GEORGE CALVERT CLEANING MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 1.40pm                Actual start time: 1.40.15pm
FRANCO JAMAR broke shortly after the start with the connections being warned to improve the colt's mobile barrier manners. With approx 900m to run PUERTO ESCONDIDO broke and fell severely checking LOUIE CULLEN with driver C J De Filippi being dislodged from the sulky. LIMITED EDITION and COURAGE ON FIRE were also badly affected in this incident losing all chance. The connections of PUERTO ESCONDIDO were advised that the gelding had been stood down from all stake bearing events for 28 days and then must trial to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards on two occasions. ABBEY NERO gave ground at the 600m with a subsequent veterinary inspection to be carried out with trainer D Anderson advising he would contact Stewards to notify them of any abnormalities should they prevail. Authorisation of 4th place being awarded to LORD was withheld until it was confirmed that the colt after striking pylons rounding the final bend had not protruded inside the pylons in excess of 30m. Placing's were duly authorised.  FRANCO JAMAR (favourite) after breaking early settled at the rear of the field improved three wide with cover from the 1600m to sit parked with 850m to run before tiring in the run home finishing in 7th place.  Following the running of this event driver's R D Holmes and C J De Filippi were attended to by the On-Course First Aid Personnel with both being stood down from driving for the remainder of the day. R D Holmes was taken to hospital for observation after suffering concussion, being discharged later in the day.  Drivers C J De Filippi and R D Holmes will be required to provide medical clearances prior to resuming driving.

RACE 5: SANDS A FLYIN'S MY DAD MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 2.15pm                Actual start time: 2.15.31pm
C D Thornley replaced driver C J De Filippi on MINTY MELLOW. Driver T M Williams replaced driver R D Holmes on ANOTHER HOMER. MOTU TREASURE had a tendency to hang during the running.  Rounding the final bend POLARIS struck a number of pylons.

RACE 6: UNITED FISHERIES LTD TROTTING FREE-FOR-ALL
Advertised start time: 2.56pm                Actual start time: 2.56.33pm
UNIQUE STAR broke early in the score up while CONAGHER broke prior to the start with both of these horses losing all chance. After approx 250m THE FIERY GINGA broke settling at the rear of the field. DARBY DOLL commenced to give ground with approx 600m to run while RUNNING ON TIME broke rounding the final bend. SPRINGBANK RICHARD (favourite) improved with 900m to run before tiring in the run home finishing in 7th place.

RACE 7: NEVELE R PACE
Advertised start time: 3.32pm                Actual start time: 3.32.53pm
C T Woodward was authorised as a replacement driver on VA VA VOOM with C D Thornley as driver on MOVE IT MOLLY. NOTVERYCHRISTIANLIKE and BUSHFIRE broke over the early stages.

RACE 8: PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES FINAL
Advertised start time: 4.07pm                Actual start time: 4.07.27pm
T W Mitchell was authorised as replacement driver on NORVIC GOLD while R H Jenkins was the authorised driver on IMA LOCH. After approx 150m NORVIC GOLD broke with the connections being warned to improve the gelding's mobile barrier manners. IMA LOCH struck a number of pylons with approx 1500m to run having a tendency to hang with this filly then commencing to give ground with 500m to run.

RACE 9: UNITED FISHERIES LTD SUMMER CUP
Advertised start time: 4.42pm                Actual start time: 4.42.57pm
M P Jones was an authorised replacement driver on FAKE CHANCE. ST BARTS was cleared by the on-course veterinary surgeon as fit to race. BAILEYS DREAM had a tendency to hang shortly after the start and again during the running and on the bends.

RACE 10: NUTRI-ZING HANDICAP TROT
Advertised start time: 5.21pm                Actual start time: 5.21.49pm
C J Markham was authorised as replacement driver on THE TIN MAN while M J House will drive DE GAULLE. With approx 900m to run HOLIDAY LOVER broke when racing at the rear of the field while THE TIN MAN broke rounding the final bend after getting on to the wheel of SUMMER MAN causing this gelding to lose ground.  DE GAULLE was held up for clear racing room in the run home with driver M J House being unable to activate the removable hood.  Following the running of this event C J Markham was charged under Rule 869(3)(b) for careless driving when striking the sulky wheel of  SUMMER MAN with the JCA upholding the charge and fining C J Markham $300.

RACE 11: GINGER MEGGS AT BALLANTYNES MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 6.01pm                Actual start time: 6.01.28pm
P J Davis was authorised as a replacement driver on SECRET GUEST with M J House as the driver of RONA LORRAINE. A veterinary inspection was ordered to be carried out on SECRET GUEST after this mare's poor performance during the event giving ground with 500m to run revealing no abnormalities. FATHER BILL struck a number of pylons rounding the final bend and again over the final stages. Driver S P Walkinshaw (HOLY HERO) was shown the replay and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground after shifting RONA LORRAINE and RARE SURPRISE wider on the track with approx 700m to run.
