NON TOTE: GEORGE CALVERT CLEANING MOBILE TROT
Advertised start time: 5.35pm Actual start time: 5.35pm
Mudguards and wet weather sheets were ordered to be affixed. The initial attempt at a start was abandoned due to the mobile being unsuccessful in gaining traction. While the horses returned to the pre-race circle, Starter P Lamb tested the track surface again but was of the opinion that a successful mobile start was highly unlikely and therefore this race and all remaining mobile races on the programme will be conducted by way of a moving start. In the re-start BOHEMIAN, ZOLA'S BUD and SUNCHITA broke over the early stages. SUNCHITA broke again rounding the final bend when racing at the rear of the field.
RACE 1: "BETTOR'S DELIGHT" STANDING AT WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE

CLEAN CUT was denied clear racing room through the initial stages of the run home. Rounding the final bend S F Smolenski was observed to momentarily drop his foot from the sulky rest. Driver T M Williams (ABBY NERO) advised this filly did not handle the track conditions. Driver S F Smolenski (OUR PRINCESS ROYAL) was questioned regarding the poor performance of this filly and advised she had failed to handle the track conditions and paced roughly throughout the running. A buckle on the two minute strap of IMA ICON broke during the running with this gear being inspected and found to be in previously good order.
RACE 2: ADDINGTON EVENTS CENTRE FOR YOUR NEXT FUNCTION MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 6.28pm Actual start time: 6.28.34pm
G & N Hope (LEES APPROVAL) were charged a $25 colour fee. With 200m to race ABOUT AMBITION broke when racing in a prominent position losing approx 10 metres before regaining the parked position. At the 1800m point STRATHCULLEN broke when racing on the outside of the leader losing considerable ground and being forced to race at the tail of the field. HOLY HERO ($3.00 favourite) settled midfield before improving three wide with 1200m to race but had nothing left to offer at the 400m eventually finishing in 11th placing. Junior Driver D J Dunn advised that this gelding had felt flat over the final 1000m. RAVEN was denied clear racing room in the run home. Junior Horseman N P Williamson as the driver of DUSTIN BROMAC was warned for allowing his runner to drift outwards over the final stages.
RACE 3: SNAE (BAHCO) HANDICAP TROT
Advertised start time: 6.55pm Actual start time: 6.55.23pm
UNIQUE STAR broke at the start losing all chance. After 200m HOLIDAY LOVER, MIDNIGHT INVASION and DOMINATION all galloped with HOLIDAY LOVER and DOMINATION extinguishing their chances.
RACE 4: ACTIVE ELECTRICAL CHRISTCHURCH LTD MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 7.20pm Actual start time: 7.21.11pm
ARJUNA was a late scratching at 7.19pm due to warming up unfavourably. IN DEFAULT broke after approx 200m, refused to settle and was retired from the event. Approaching the 1100m point AMENOPHIS broke with this gelding again breaking round the final bend. JB'S COURAGE brushed several pylons rounding the final bend when racing on the inside on RURIK who was racing erratically when being held up for clear racing room behind the tiring LIVE IN THE MIST. K M Barron as the trainer of MIGHTY TODDY admitted a breach of Rule 865(1) which alleged he had failed to notify this gelding would race in a galloping hood with the JCA imposing a fine to the sum of $100.
RACE 5: PENINSULAR BEACHFRONT RESORT, MOOLOOLABA MOBILE PACE
Advertised start time: 7.50pm Actual start time: 7.50.37pm
MUSTANG MACH broke shortly after the start with driver B Munro advising the horse had panicked when an earplug had activated. MATT MAGUIRE paced roughly at the start and again over the final stages. DAYS OF PASSION when racing towards the back of the field was checked by BON JOVI who had raced erratically and paced roughly. With 1050m to run MUSTANG MACH broke. Stewards requested that Mr P Court as the driver of TERROR TO LOVE explain the manner in which he elected to drive this horse throughout the event. Mr Court after appearing intent on leading for the race took a trail with 900m to run before immediately shifting to the parked position. It was noted that soon after this Mr Court elected to take cover from the three wide and improving THE COTTON CLUB and then be denied clear racing room for the entire run home. Mr Court advised he had shifted to the parked position when he thought it apparent that the now lead horse FOREVER ARMA (S P Walkinshaw) would hand up to the race favourite MATT MAGUIRE and so he had shifted outwards endeavouring to prevent being shifted to three back on the fence. Due to the condition of the track and the fact that most horses in this field were having their first starts or very inexperienced Stewards took no further action than to note Mr Courts comments.
RACE 6: CHRISTCHURCH CASINO HANDICAP PACE

LAUGHALOT broke with 1700m to run when being eased to take a trail and lost all chance. NIRAADI was held up rounding the final bend by the tiring MMOOZA. Authorisation of first placing being awarded to INDY VILLAGE was withheld until Stewards had confirmed no other runners had been affected by this horse breaking at the start of the race.
At the conclusion of Race 6 Stewards invited submissions from drivers M P Jones, R T May, A M Butt, B N Orange, R D Holmes, J F Curtin and C D Thornley, on behalf of the NZMTC, S Gloury and track manager J Denton were also present. Those drivers present were unanimous in their opinion that the meeting should be abandoned due to the poor visibility they were encountering especially those racing at the back of the field.
