Unless
Changeover fails a fertility test, his splendid racing career
is over. Changeover had his last race in the Auckland Cup,
running fifth behind Monkey King, and the time before he was
fourth, finishing strongly in Blacks A Fake’s Inter-Dominion
Grand Final. He will be en route to Nevele R Stud as soon as
the tests have been completed successfully. Stablemates
Awesome Armbro and Gomeo Romeo will also be on the float, on
their way to race at Addington’s Easter meeting.
Blacks A Fake, winner of four Inter-Dominion Grand Finals,
is spelling but will be back next season. Trainer Natalie
Rasmussen said he would resume racing in August. Rasmussen
said: “I don’t think he’s come through any of his other wins
better. It certainly gives you reason to think he could have
another season in front of him.”
Mr Feelgood, the winner of the 2009 Inter-Dominion Grand
Final for Tim Butt, will stay and continue racing in Australia
from the Queensland stable of John McCarthy. He will race in
the Len Smith Mile on April 27, then through the winter before
being retired to stud.
Steven Reid and Graeme Rogerson mare a rare visit to
Forbury Park last week, for a Heat of the Sires’ Stakes
Series, with Charge Forward and Gold Ace. The result was a win
by Charge Forward, who set an NZ record by winning the 1700m
mobile in 2.02.6, bettering the 2.03.3 set by Kotare Mach 12
months ago. He is a son of Grinfromeartoear raced by the
Auckland Trotting Club 2010 Syndicate.
