Types of Ownership

TypesOfOwnership1.jpg (14277 bytes)Individual
This option of ownership is available for one and up to six people.  The individual or individuals cover all of the costs, make all of the decisions and get to enjoy all of the rewards.  The main reason that this type of ownership is restricted to six people is so all names appear in the race book.

Syndicates
Being part of a syndicate is a fun way to become involved in the ownership of a harness horse.  To form a syndicate you need between two and 50 people.  Most syndicates are made up of groups of friends or relatives who get together to race a horse.   There are public syndicates which advertise for members from time to time and listed below are a couple of options should you be interested in joining.

The opportunity exists for corporates to participate in the own-ership of a harness horse.   This could be in the form of a staff social club or the company itself.  There is also the possibility that you may want to use your cor-porate colours and or logo as the colours your driver wears.   What better way to advertise your business!

Family Trust
You can also register your ownership of a racehorse under your fam-ily trust.   Details of how to do this are available by phoning the Harness Racing New Zealand office
