The Harness Plus Bonus Scheme is open to any registered standardbred. In order for any horses to be eligible for a bonus the horse must have been nominated and sustained as per the Conditions.
The Series will be governed by Harness Racing New Zealand with a Harness Plus Subcommittee appointed for the overall administration of the Series. The N.Z.Sires Stakes Board has been appointed to collect the prenomination monies which will then be transferred to the Harness Plus Fund held by Harness Racing New Zealand who will distribute the Harness Plus bonuses.
Harness Plus bonuses will be assigned to existing harness totalisator races. Bonuses will be paid to the winner of the designated races throughout the season providing it was an eligible Harness Plus horse.
Bonuses will be paid on age group within each scheme and spread on a regional, gait and gender basis with horse distribution also being taken into account. Designated races will be determined by the Harness Plus Administration Subcommittee in consultation with the regional Racing Secretaries and be reviewed quarterly. Designated races to complement racing calendar and horse population. Designated Harness Plus races will be advertised in the Harness Racing Weekly as part of a host club's programme and Harness Plus horses will be identified in the racebook.

There will be no restriction on the number of bonuses a horse can win. (Because of the regional spread and diversification of races that the bonuses will be applied to it is envisaged that the bonuses will be won by a wide variety of horses ). The bonuses will be paid out by Harness Racing New Zealand at approximately the same time as the stake of the race but will be exempt from the stakes for handicapping purposes. Bonus payments will be subject to complying with the Rules of Harness Racing.

The bonus will be paid to the original Nominator of the said horse and to the owner(s) of
the said horse at the time of winning the bonus race.
Definition of
Nominator:
The nominator will be deemed to be the person(s) whose name(s) appears on the Nomination Form at
the current payment level as the nominator.
A Harness Plus eligible horse is one that has met all sustaining payments from foal nomination onwards to the present time. Also horses that have made the late payment as a yearling and all subsequent payments.
These horses are eligible to claim the advertised bonus payment should they win a Harness Plus Race. Eligible horses are marked in the racebook and fields with a Harness Plus logo.
A - Foal Nomination
B - Yearling Sustaining
D - Three Year Old Sustaining (eligible for 3 YO Series)
E - Foal Nomination - Fully Paid Up (eligible for 3 and 4 YO
Series)
F - Yearling Sustaining - Fully Paid Up (eligible for 3 and 4 YO
